Arterion, Child of a Dying Light
"We must forge forth together, or we will be pushed back alone."

Bio
Growing up in New Ravnica, Arterion was always exposed to both the good and the evil of society. She was never satisfied with the balance of destructive nature with the virtues of magic, and she found her spark shortly after her father tragically perished in the same fire that took both her legs. After some biomancers helped recontruct her body she took to exploring new worlds and was devastated when she realized that black and red magic existed everywhere. Arterion spent years without purpose, but eventually she realized she had the power to join with magic's ruining capacity. Finally at peace with herself, she vowed to travel the lands and help bring hope to struggling people like she once was.

Arterion uses blue, white, and red magic, one with inner flow, light and rage. Open Bio 2 if you want more backstory on her homeworld, New Ravnica.

Bio 2
"Okay." Arterion pauses.

"New Ravnica was a harsh environment to grow up in, but I can't help thinking of it fondly. Their society was built around a wealth of new trade opportunity—a planar boom town, if you will. The center of the ever-expanding city was on a well of a mana foreign to every place I've seen since." She quickly conjures up a bench and sits on it, inviting Sevalios to do the same. "You could hear the biopumps working all day, and you could see vials of the stuff everywhere; it was our currency, and mages outside of our plane found it infinitely useful. I, um... I still..."

She pulls out a small glass tube filled with a glowing purple dust. "This," she says quietly, "is purple mana. A generation before my parents found this leaking out of the ground while searching for a place to settle. Figuring they'd struck it rich, they put down their gear and started drilling. Not much lay on the ground, but there were worlds beneath—the stuff of legends. They were so lucky to have found it, and they didn't even know that they were disturbing the peace of the life below." She coughs into her sleeve.

"Of course, they knew none of this back then. All they knew is this: A normal plot of land will produce a modest amount of mana a day—about enough to conjure a small creature, or to fuel a machine for a while. But this plot—and there was just the one, or so they'd thought—shot out the stuff like nobody's business. It was a deep and powerful vein that we'd struck. Those who heard about it immediately rushed to this plane and set up shop. In only ten years the plane was filled to the brim with bustling shops and eager customers.

"But there was a price to all their hasty trade. I was about seventeen when the seemingly unstoppable flow slowed to a drip. Still, it was enough for us, but the nearby planes demanded our elixir. A year passed, with the local economy holding its breath. We didn't know what was to happen to the vein, or to our plane, or for that matter to the inhabitants of it. One day, the pumps stopped. They just couldn't run anymore. Some people fled, fearing a planar explosion. Many took their homes and their lives and fled. We were poor, and we just didn't have anywhere to go. My friends Davian and Aluui stayed, along with many other poor families. It really was a test of friendship—surely they could have left, but to this day I'm grateful for them staying by our side.

"Then came the fire. The unstable atmosphere gave rise to anarchy. It was a terrible force... it could make you do awful things. There—there was a fire—we didn't know who did it—it took my father, and... and my legs. Aluui was a biomancer, and Davian and I were researchers. These"—she holds up her right leg—"are the work of Aluui. How great she was... well, anyway, we began to be worried that the same anarchy that took my father would consume the plane. So my mother, Davian, Aluui and I packed our things and planned to leave for a more pleasant environment within the week."

Arterion realizes she's crying a little, and wipes away a tear. "Anyway, we had a week left. We decided that we had to find out exactly what happened so that we could tell everybody. Our boom town was to become a ghost town, and there was nothing we could do about it. But we could inform others so that the same thing wouldn't happen to them. We rigged a containment capsule to fit the central drill to that we could venture into the vein of mana. The three of us carefully went down into the vein with flashlights, but found soon that we didn't need them. Purple bioluminescence was abound in these strange caves, and we could see creatures... things that vaguely reminded us of beings we'd seen elsewhere. But the mana, Sev—the strong magic in the mana—it changed them, in the most magnificent ways. And we were going to spread the word, and tell people what could be done with this now-missing mana source.

"We continued down the dank hallway, greeted with these peaceful, beautiful creatures, until we found the place where the drill had stopped. It had forced its way into the ground in a painful way. No wonder it had ended so harshly. We inspected the divot, and we—we—" she begins to cry. "It was a bone, Sevalios, we'd been drilling into a—a living thing. All those years—so much pain... We couldn't believe it. We were so—so intensely disgusted with the terrible inhumaneness of it all. We made our way out as quickly as we could. It was so awful, Sev. We halfheartedly tested the fresh mana we'd found, and we discovered something that consoled us." Arterion closes her eyes.

"The mana—it wasn't the blood of the creature. Or if it was, it wasn't like any blood from any being we'd seen before. The mana—when it was fresh, we could see it clearly—it wasn't taken directly from the thing, Sev. Or—it was, but—it originated in our frayed edges of the Æther, not in the beast itself. Sevalios, what that meant was that though the creature might be dead, purple mana might still be alive. And that thought stayed with us. We planeswalked away from what was once New Ravnica, and my mother, Davian and Aluui now reside in Alara. I went back to visit New Ravnica two years ago, and there was"—she begins to cry again—"nothing left but scattered, ruined shops and a barren scape of land. The mana vein was gone, and... and so was our home."

She gulps down her tears. "There you have it, Sevalios. The sad story of my New Ravnica as it is and was." She looks at him. "Your turn."

Purple Mana
Purple Mana for MTG Extra is the color of insanity. In Purple Mana for MTG Extra you may find cards that are simply bizarre.

Purple Mana for MTG Extra likes...

• creating cards and stashing them in places like your hand, library or exile;

• changing up abilities;

• tweaking the way the game works;

• meddling with cards in exile;

• screwing up the timestream;

• and anything strange, weird or out of the question!

Regarding card tokens, such as the ones in the first bullet above: I've tried this from multiple perspectives and, to be honest, have been shot down pretty much every time. I understand the rules of Magic don't allow creation of cards, or tokens to exist not on the battlefield, but I am adding onto the rules of Magic with this new color. Let me say this here:
Purple Mana for MTG Extra can create cards, and they can exist in any zone and function like any other card of the same type.

As an evergreen mechanic, Purple Mana for MTG Extra uses vanishing and suspend.

[What a delightfully devious way to answer mine. I quite enjoy the balanced simplicity it holds. However, I believe you don't have mastery over enchantments yet... perhaps make it a creature? I'll look it over this time, but remember you have to stay within the bounds of your character. 9/10]

Well, a 2/2 unblockability in M14 was worth 1 mana symbolBlue mana symbolBlue mana symbol and it wasn't very good. That aside, not sure why I gave it both flying and unblockable (probably intended haste)

Elements' Accord reminds me of Anger of the Gods, which deals 3 damage to (typically) everything without flying, since flying things are normally massive when they're played anyways. While it has the ability to hit either of those, it's also really good against tribal decks, as well as being at instant speed. In addition, being able to select what you hit gives you more flexibility, since you can, for example, play spirit tribal and hit all your opponent's creatures. I think the choice by itself probably should make it cost the 2 mana symbolRed mana symbolRed mana symbol. Then again, it is still weaker than Anger, so it could very well be fine. 7/10

I decided to match the cost of Cancel, because it does pretty much the same thing with an added gimmick, like Dissolve.

As for your card, it's basically a weaker Disdainful Stroke. I don't know if it would see play, even in five-color, because at best it's only slightly more powerful, and that's only on turn five when you're really, really lucky. 7/10]

(Yeah, that's why I avoided using any pronouns, until you dropped a feminine pronoun after a few posts on my board. It would help to publish a brief biography on your OP. A picture would be nice too, if it suits you.

Also, I know Fermat's gonna point it out, but his card cares about X or less, whereas Disdainful Stroke cares about X or greater. Thoughtbind and Liquify are fairer comparisons.

Also, as far as Prismajolt's last ability goes, I think it would be worded "Each basic land that player controls becomes the basic land type that produces that color until end of turn." Prismajolt would shut down sorcery-speed spells and abilities before they're cast, but it would have no effect on instant-speed spells and abilities, nor would it have any effect on spells and abilities that are already on the stack.)

(Hybrids are still multicolored, actually. Battle-Scarred Elder would require a Multicolor Level of 1. Since you didn't know, I won't count it against you this time. Hmm... Battle-Scarred Elder is balanced in terms of cost and playability. I think it violates the color pie, though, because hybrid cards like this are considered "mono-white" OR "mono-blue" OR "white and blue." Mono-blue could not see a card like this. Furthermore, as a matter of technicality, the trigger should be worded "At end of combat, if Battle-Scarred Elder was declared as an attacker or blocker this combat." As it's currently worded, the ability is technically triggered the moment it's declared as an attacker or blocker. Finally, your card doesn't do anything to either help or hinder mine. It has similar mechanics, but not synergistic mechanics. Given that there was an effort to make a connection between the cards, though, I won't judge that aspect harshly. Rating: 6/10)

Forceful Gesture: I don't think you just "set aside" cards. I think you have to temporarily exile them or something. Also, excluding cards that ended up in a player's hand doesn't quite work. You have no way to know which cards are those, so it's easy to cheat with it. I also don't think that the card needs the "choose one" template. This is how I'd word it.

Choose a card at random from target player's hand. That player may cast that card without paying its mana cost. If he or she does, you may choose targets for it. Otherwise, Forced Gesture deals damage to that player equal to that card's converted mana cost.

Man, it'd be terrible when this hit a land. Maybe change "cast" to "play" so it also work with lands? Overall, 5/10; decent idea, but it needs a lot of work.

Also, I meant coin, not money, I got those mixed up.

She continues, "New Ravnica was a harsh environment to grow up in, but I can't help thinking of it fondly.

The sad story of my New Ravnica as it is and was. Hopefully..." She sighs. "Hopefully, when I become powerful enough, I can search to rediscover purple mana for the good of the world." She looks at him. "Your turn."

[A cross between the Magic universe and the Lorax. I really poured my heart into that one, so you better have something good! Big smile

By the way, that last line was a hint. When I get to 200 Valor, I'm looking at some purple mana!]

I'm not sure whether you can use Green mana symbol without actually having the ability to use Green mana symbol. The rules are vague about it, but this card just doesn't make sense to me. But maybe I'm wrong. Could be.

That aside, I do dig the backstory. Great work. I'm a bit puzzled as to how Arterion's entire family has the spark and, if I was reading it right, so does everyone on the plane. That aside, it's innovative and doesn't rip off the thing it took inspiration from.

Also, thanks for the feedback. It wasn't a necessary detail, but they planeswalked using the leftover mana from the cave. (Wait, you can do that, right? A happy smile In any case, I'm okay defining the rules of my new mana.) Also, I haven't really decided which, but one of the traumatic experiences in the story gave Arterion her spark: the fire, her world being abandoned, finding out they were sapping a big creature the whole time, etc... but she either doesn't know, or she doesn't care. Davian and Aluui are supporting roles that appear in some of my other designs, and neither had their spark until after they left the plane. Aluui got hers after she accidentally fractured her existence into five parts. (If that's a Magic cliche, so be it Big smile ) Davian brought his sister back from the dead and was bestowed his spark by a god. I don't know about you, but I really like storylining as well as card-designing...

[Sorry, rating: That's not too overpowered, because it's like a preemptive Fog. Since you play it as they're attacking, it's a less powerful combat trick. I would, however, suggest changing the color (but I know you're limited to pink, so that's not gonna happen) because the flavor of "tripping" and "curses" don't match what you wrote in your description about the color. It's not evil, per se, so it wouldn't fit in Black mana symbol, but it is a little too mean to be seen in pink. I'd put that in Lightning Mana for MTG Extra or Desert Mana for MTG Extra myself. I help with that thread, even made an alt color card contest thread. Pink was always my favorite. It's not like Pink Mana for MTG Extra can't do evil things, but I don't it would do petty evil things. Pink's evil is Necessary Evil, the most efficient thing to solve a situation that peace can't. But Tripping Curse does sort of fit Pink Mana for MTG Extra.

[I see this in blue, and I see it in red, but I don't really see it in blue-red. It might be a flavor issue, or whatever, but I still think it's a good, well thought out idea, so thanks Aqua. 8/10.]

It's like an archetype of colorless. You could actually do a lot with such a Johnny card like this.

I don't know if Chrome Mirror Savant's very green, but "mirror" and blocky tricks seems blue to me. It'd be safe costing 2 mana symbolBlue mana symbol or, if you had it, White mana symbolBlue mana symbol. The card itself is pretty cool, I like it. Nice work, 8/10.

Rating for mine?

Prismatic Prohibition, as CJOLL said, is closer to Liquify, less 1 mana symbol for not exiling the spell. In a dual colored deck, you can potentially counter Tarmogoyf, Stoneforge Mystic, Sensei's Divining Top, most other counterspells, or stop storm decks as it's about to go off.

Prismajolt: I believe it should go "All basic lands target player controls become the basic land type that produces mana of the chosen color until end of turn." Anyway, I'd say Silence still has more use. A player can still float all his mana and cast instants, just like with Silence, but with the said card, the spellcasting restriction is absolute once it resolves, for a third of the cost. That said, this could have some use with older cards like Acid Rain, Flashfires, and Stench of Evil. Very few competitive decks use very many basic lands, though, so all in all, this is a tad underwhelming. 6/10

[Sorry for late judging]
Besides the fact everyone is embarrassed about my projects I'm fine.
A quite good card, but too cheap.
As it is leaving the graveyard Dredge, Delve, and Scavenge for example will be hurt way too much for me. Although Nice Flavor and great respond 8/10
