A Planeswalkers Guide

A Planeswalker's Guide to Ezanavi
Meet Senzu

Illus. Elderscroller on deviantart

You have become a planeswalker and you have been living your life as one since your spark ignited. You have visited many planes along your travels. Shandalar, Zendikar, Ravnica, Valla, Dominaria, Volaria, Agralnat, Cretio, Mashara, are a few of many locations you have visited in your travels. Ever since your spark awakened you have been flung through the blind eternities from one plane to another. This experience was like any other you might feel while walking the planes. Grains of Aether whip against your face, they collide together in their attempts to crush your body. It is hard to see when your in a rush and staying in the blind eternities will eventually kill you. In an attempt to hasten your descent, you blast a ray of arcana to propel forward against the fierce aether winds. That was your first mistake. The spell misfires and sends you spiraling out of control. You smash into a horizontally suspended pillar of aether. The winds dies down and grains materialize into a new world. You fall from a branch and plummet beneath the canopy. You wake up with a tremendous headache and a pain in your side. Everything is dark and realize you are chained against the wall. You shout and hear your echo bounce against the cave walls. You stand there with nowhere to go for the next couple hours. Finally you see light in the distance. A staircase is illuminated and you can see a man walk down it with an odd-looking torch in hand. He looks at you and puts down his belongings. He places them next to a pile that seems to hold what you own as well. You try to talk to him but he is ignoring you. Finally, the man speaks in elven, “Ape, Do you speak elf?”. You recognize the language and reply “Unchain me”. The elf gives you a stern look. “So, what is your rank?” The elf asks. You are surprised he would ask such a question. He must must believe you are a soldier. “I am no soldier”. The elf grins and asks another question “So planeswalker, why have you not freed yourself?”. This elf was unusual for many reasons. The first being that he knew what a planeswalker was and secondly because he lived in a cave with no other elves around. Seeing no point in hiding your ability's. You have your chains dissolve into nothingness in reply. You limp forward towards your supplies. The elf blocks you and asks you a question. “So, what world are you from?” “That is none of your concern.” you reply. The elf slams you against the wall and pulls a dagger to your throat. “I'll ask you again. What world are you from?””You attempt to cast a spell that will move the elf out of your way. It is of no use. “So you think simple sorcery will stop dalwood runes?” “Now knowing how the elf is protected you naturalize the amulet hanging from the elf's neck. You quickly blast him against the other side of the cave. You run for it. You quickly grab your supplies and attempt to planeswalk. Something isn't right. It isn't working. You can't planeswalk here. Realizing this, you run toward the stairs leading out of the cave. It seems the elf has given up following you. You arrive on the surface triumphant. You look to either side of you. There are trees as far as the eye can see. You try to run more but you are out of breath and your legs are sinking in a mud hole. To your horror, you can no longer feel your legs as they sink into the mud. You keep trying to escape but you are unable to break free. You see the elf rise from the ground in front of you a twisted grin on his face. “Who are you?” you ask the elf. “I am Senzu, some call me a madman but in this case I am the last person you will ever meet.” With those words, Senzu shoots a green mist at your face. You scream in pain as your legs turn into wood and the transformation climbs upward. You get one last breath of air before you have completely become a tree. You forevermore exist as a landmark for Senzu's hideout.

The Ecols

Illus. Eudia Chae

My people are very intelligent but there intelligence destroys their innocence. I live in a corrupt society built upon the lies of Menrylia and her brother Senzu. For the past 327 years, the Ecol Dynasty has ruled Dalwood. It is the belief of my people that the path to power is written in the stars. Those who can read the stars are destined to rule. Such is the case of the Ecols. The family began as astronomers and eventually discovered witchcraft. They have monopolized magic and are unwilling to share their discoveries. This does not stop some of us from creating our own rudimentary designs. Many cultures throughout this world have become obsessed with the stars because they believe it will give them magical powers. I am a mere slave to the Ecols but one day I hope to become rich by smuggling dalwood technology into human hands. The fools likely wouldn't know how to use it anyhow and I would perhaps gain respect from my people. There are so much hate lying within the elves. We generally view others negatively until they have served us or benefited us in one way or another. Even then others are regarded with mistrust and paranoia. I believe we can learn much from the humans. The may be stupid, but they aren't cowards like us. Something the things an animal would do can sometimes be the most appropriate. Humanity has been a threat to us for many years. The Ecols declared war against Ralixa more then two decades ago and we have been warring against the fighters of Madt and the Warpers of Tesara for much of that time. On a dark day, the Ecols will fall and we the people will rise up and create an era of peace between us and the humans. My situation is perilous and I am concerned for my own survival. Fighting against an enemy I dont wish to fight and serving a family I loath. I recently heard Senzu Ecol grew sick and eventually grew insane. As a result, his sister, Menrylia banished him to the uncharted wilds. Menrylia is now the sole heir of the Ecol name. She is our supreme leader. I would guess she killed the rest of her competitors. I also believe Senzu figured out what was going on and was given the choice to flee. I think he took it. Menrylia is a tyrant.

The War

Illus. Benjamin Giletti

Today I am fighting in a bloody war for the Ecols. We are attacking the Human capital of Ralixa. There was not really an explanation as to why we should attack. We do what Menrylia tells us. My job in the war effort is pushing a Ballista through the desert. A ballista is basically a wagon with a giant crossbow mounted on it. It seems ridiculous to believe that such primitive weapons would work against a civilization of magic-users. In an earlier fight. I looted a weapon off a human corpse. It was a sword that became superheated when an elf was near. The tool was often used to hunt elves. However, being an elf, I have no problem making the sword much more dangerous than anything the Ecols would supply us. I don’t hate humans. I fight them for my own survival in the Dalwood empire. Those who do not fight are considered to be traitors. The lucky traitors are killed, the rest suffer a far worse fate. I am determined to die by neither the hand of elf or man. I will die when I choose. Today I push the battlements forward to the wall. I can see human mages standing on pillars maintaining eldritch barriers and vaporizing my fellow elves. A blast comes my way. I am able to dodge it. My partner also pushing the ballista is not as lucky. An elf’s yell echoes on the battlefield. I then see Ralixan infantry running through the barriers with swords in hand. The battle rages all around me. I continue dodging the blasts of the mages cutting down all humans I encounter on the way. I stab a larger fellow through the chest. Another hex flies at me from above. It hits the large human on the breastplate. The magical bolt is deflected off the armor and snaps the legs off another one rushing toward me. I remove the armor from the human and use it as a shield as I rush into the fray. The mage shoots another blast. This time I am ready, the bolt bounces off the armor and incinerates the mage who cast it. There are more dead humans than elves. The rest of us clammer towards the city gates and knock it down with ballistae and catapults. However what awaits us through the gates aren’t human residences. Instead there is a circular room with runes carved all around the walls. My sword oddly dims as we enter. We have fallen into a trap. A wave of invisible magical energy ripples through the room tearing the flesh off of our faces. My sword was an effective warning, I run as fast as I can. It is of no use. The energy catches up with me and flays me alive. The last thought I ever have is the want of a life where the Ecols did not exist.

Wizards

Illus. Christian Quinot

I am Keled. I was born in the Capital and began my life as the child of street vendors. My parents would often ask me to retrieve goods from other areas of the city. Since I was young and fast I could do what they asked. One day I was asked to go retrieve goltis from a market on the eastern edge of the capital. I began my trip. I didn't know it would be the last trip I made. While on my usual route I bumped into a person. A blue steam poured out of his eyes. He wore a thick black cloak and his skin was as pale as his features were sharp. A second look revealed that the man was a wizard. Not just any wizard. The seal of Tesara glinted between the sunlit buildings. He was one of the overworld. I ran as fast as I could. As I ran he shot blasts of light that cracked the cobbled street. From the street rose a multitude of stone golems each chasing me as I ran. The light finally caught up to me.

Breath blasted into my core. I jumped up in fright of my continued existence. I was somewhere I had not been before. I was in a room dimly lit by torches. I could make out six corridors heading in separate directions. Out of the shadows stepped the wizard I had seen before. There were six of them. Each moved as if they were incorporeal. To my horror, words began spilling from their mouths. All of them at once spoke in a low voice: “Keled Hahlisht, You have been chosen” “Chosen for what?” I asked. They were silent their eyes dimmed and they returned to the shadows. I felt somewhat relieved. Immediately after they left the room was illuminated with a piercing bright light of the same deep blue. A vortex of magic appeared on the roof of the room. I was rising as if defying gravity through the eye of the enchanted storm.

My eyes glimpsed awake. I was sitting in the chair I had always been sitting in when at home. There were all my books and possessions. Something however was off. There were books that had not been there before. I tried to stand but could not move. I was not myself. Not in my own body. Yet I was home. I attempted movement again. I was more successful this time. As I stood, I could hear the creaking of my bones. I was an ancient creature. No longer a child. I found a mere and looked at it. I was completely bald and my brow was quite furrowed. I had sharp wrinkles around my jaw and a scrunched nose. I freaked. I ran outside immediately. I was not in the capital. I was in a place surrounded my structures that humans would never had the intelligence to design. My home was planted on an alien environment. I stumbled through many rooms before finding my way outside. The sun scorched my eyes. It was powerful and It seemed to be mixed with the blue light from earlier. I kept walking though. From the sky descended multiple copies of the wizard from my childhood. Each one an exact replica of another lifelessly floating over a place I had never been. I came to an edge the edge of the world it seemed. I had heard legends but I just found it. It was a steep drop off to what looked like nowhere. Suddenly the lifeless wizards behind me began moving. Each bolted towards me with impressive speed. That is when I jumped. I jumped off the edge of the world.

Ambush

Illus. Aikoo Lee

The Airships engines flared to a halt hovering over a pile of brick and stone. A heavy clank could be heard beneath the boots of the soldiers. A harsh wind scattered debris and sand around the sunlit landscape. Ja-Madt, a the leader of the Ralixan militia, departed the ship and observed what was to be seen. Recently a group of demons had entered their world at this location. It was the job of madt and his men to bring visitors to the ralixa to be incarcerated. However, there was nothing to collect from the ruins.

This place had once been a temple built to worship an ancient elven god. The elves had supposedly once inhabited the mainland before humanity had driven them into the forest. Elves had likely left the temple who knows how long ago. The war between man and elf had began more than a century ago and there was no sign of it stopping. Today the war was of no concern to the soldiers because there rising out of the sand was a cloaked figure.

The men stared at the being in bewilderment. There was certainly nobody there a minute ago. Flashes of purple Aether spun outwards from the spread hands of the being. A few soldiers fell to there knees and Ja-Madt watched their flesh turn into dust. A cry rang out among the remaining soldiers as the flesh of their comrades blew away in the wind. Many of them jumped into combat in an attempt to engage the spellcaster in combat. Not one blow struck the being.

Many were killed by being repelled through the air while others turned to dust. Madt was blasted backwards and landed in a bank of sand. Another soldier was repelled but unfortunately was thrown through the airships propeller. After every last one of his comrades was slain, Madt stood from the dust and charged at the spellcaster once more. Purple light fizzzled towards madt but disappeared before touching him. The spellcaster attempted another cast but it too failed. Madt seized the spellcaster and lifted the hood. She was a woman. She was very beautiful but had an insane look in her eye; a look of desperation and Fury.

Madt cuffed her and escorted her eleven miles to the ralixa detention center. There were many questions from peasants as to how Madt had managed to escape his death and eventually they came to a conclusion: Madt was guilty of treason. Of course we know that not to be true but Madt was seen that way by many. The verdict of the Brightmind was guilty. As punishment, Madt would be banished from the land until he could prove his innocence.

Many of Madt's most loyal friends and companions joined him in his solitude. It would be years before the Brightmind allowed the Fighters of Madt to return to Ralixa.

Underworld

Illus. Kekai Kotaki

I am Keled Hahlisht. I have learned of a grand conspiracy taking place on my home plane of Ezanavi. There are other worlds, worlds our leaders would hide from us. No longer I say. I began my journey when I was kidnapped by dreadculler agents of the Tesaren Regime. They attempted to capture me and they succeeded. At the time I knew not why they chased me but now I know. I have been walking the planes for the past two years and I have learned of a great evil. I have found my plane once more. I have returned. The Brightmind wish to keep beings known as planeswalkers from leaving Ezanavi. They do this using a magical relic known as the “Destiny Stone” It sends out a wave of energy throughout the multiverse attracting planeswalkers to Ezanavi like mice to a trap. I was able to escape the power of the Destiny Stone when I was brought into the chamber it was held when I was kidnapped. That is the only location one can planeswalker away from Ezanavi. The stone bars every other place on the plane. I have learned more of the brightmind. The wizards who captured me were elite members of the dreadculler. The dreadculler are the assassins. They are sent to kill planeswalkers who land on Ezanavi. I barely escaped with my life.

Ever since my departure I have wandered across many worlds. I found a world shattered yet reborn. Enshrouded in conflict yet relatively at peace. I found another world a dead world reduced to mere dust and cracked stone. Then a world of eternal daylight followed by one of eternal dark. I found a world infested with odd insect-like creatures. I found a world completely covered by a vast metropolis. These are a few of the worlds I visited in my travels. There is one world I cannot forget. I found hell. I was being attacked by an elemental of sorts before I planeswalked to the plane. I dodged its blows and was able to make a quick getaway. Then I found the world. I stumbled on ash and looked at my surroundings. It was a massive cave there was a roof many miles up. Metallic lava spilled down through underground valleys and I could here distorted shrieks in the distance. There I saw something unlike anything I had ever seen. I had seen many demons as well as devils. These were neither. They were monsters. They spotted me and began pursuing me. I did not run. I instead shot a bolt of energy to the ceiling far above my head. The stone broke of the top and plummeted into the near vicinity of the creatures. Eventually I had smashed all three of them. I did not think my actions through very well. My disruptive spell had awaken other such creatures. They came to life and began chasing after me. They did not slaughter me as I expected. Instead they fed me a worm-like creature. I was held in a cell deeper in the ground.

Booster Pack

Horror

Illus. Benjamin Giletti
Screeching roared within the volcanic cavern that lay before me. Spurts of magma bubbled out of every etching that on the walls. The sight of the ground beneath me was far more terrifying than what could be seen on either side. Geysers bubbled and I believed there was something alive in the pits not home to these underworld storms. I could hear shrieks with the rise of each smoggy plume from the pits beneath me. It had been much time since I was captured by strange creatures that called this hellish environment their home. I saw inscriptions on the stone upon which I lay.

I learned that It was telling me a story, a story of a person who found themselves in these very caves. I spent the time locked away to meditate to attempt finding a spell to translate this writing. I had believed it would help me escape. After three weeks I had completely translated the writing. I was unamused by what it said. All that was written was “Run” in a language far more brilliant and advanced than my own. This was my first time the Phyrexians made me feel fear. I had hoped it would be the last. After recuperating the powers of my spark. I left this hellish world forever. I hoped to never return.
Conclusion
I am Keled Hahlisht. I am dead. There was no footstep that I could hear while I walked along the dusty to a pit several miles south of where I had reappeared on this new plane. There were vines and fruit hanging from the trees of the cathedral. All that I could hear was screaming that beckoned me to this place. I ran into the room slashing tattered curtains that stood in my path aside. There lying on the floor was the mangled flesh of a creature. He seemed human but was clearly not as he had metal seeping out of his pores and had bladed perforating his flesh as if he was more machine than man. “Help me!” the man said. “What can I do?” “You are no doubt a planeswalker......You must go to Argentum and destroy it.” “What is Argentum?” I asked. “Argentum is my birthplace in the multiverse..... It was defiled by phyrexia and I want to stop the same fate from occuring on other worlds.” “How am I supposed to accomplish a task such as destroying a plane?” “You must find other planeswalkers like yourself. If you do not help me the same fate might await your plane.” I felt sorry that the man had lost his home but I had a close encounter with the phyrexians only a few planes ago.

Illus. Mathias Kollros

I haven't even been able to return to Ezanavi yet. I too had a mission. I knew what toils my home held within it. I knew of the dreadculler. I had knew of the war between man and elf. I knew of the grudge the Madt's held against Ralixa and that they could turn on us any day now. I would not burden myself with this beings troubles. “I am sorry but I can not help you. There is too much I have too worry about.” “You won't have anything to worry about anything except for not if but when you will die once they find your plane and tear your petty issues into pieces.” he replied. “I seek balance for my plane. Not yours.” “There is a connection between all planes that exists. You are a fool if you can't see that.” He was beginning to annoy me so I just told him to find other planeswalkers. “I can't he shouted.” “Why?” “I am infected with the phyrexian oil. Every place I go I will infect. Every place I go will too become a new phyrexia...... You are the only one who can help me. I have already doomed this plane by being here. There will be countless more if nothing is done.” “Goodbye” I said. I disappeared into an icy mist and left that plane forever.

Much had happened in the time I had been exploring the multiverse. Senzu, the ruler of the Ecol Dynasty had gone mad with the belief of doomsday and believed that elf and man needed to end the war to prepare themselves for annihilation. Seeing the opportunity, Menrylia had usurped the crown and continued the slaughter that was this war. The warriors of madt had even fewer number than when I last found them and the human infantry seemed less and less fit for war. I could see now that humanity would be defeated by the Ecols. I would sit under the stars and stare at the moon hoping that one day my plane would become peaceful again and I could continue exploring the multiverse. Until that time came, I would dedicate myself to the humans of this plane. I joined the fighters of madt and quickly climbed their ranks by becoming a skilled swordsman as well as an excellent crossbow sniper. We destroyed everything in our path whether it was a tree or an elf village. It was all the same to us.

Illus. Christian Bravery

One day we found ourselves deep enough in the woods that I found something genuinely disturbing. There was magic in the trees. A magic that I had not found here before but it was a magic I had recognized when I met the man in the cathedral. I could only guess what this entailed. Phyrexia was here and It was with the elves. I told my superior officer that we needed to destroy the entire forest and that there were likely traps awaiting us. The trees were cleared in a mile long diameter and the fires were still burning. I could sense the magic leaving the trees. They were converging onto a focal point within the forest. My fellow warriors and followed and as we did it seemd the trees were whispering the words “Unchain me” over and over echoing ever louder until we came to an area where there was a tree that had a greater amount of mana than did the others. Fruits from the plane I had once visited grew from the branches of this tree. The bark of the tree crunched down to animate a face. It was a person I didn't recognize. He spoke the words in a booming voice “Unchain Me!!!!!” We tried to light the tree on fire. My comrades believed it was elf trickery. Only I knew the true meaning behind this. There was another planeswalker here. The tree told us to stop lighting it on fire because they would not succeed. “There is an elf that lives below this tree that has cast a spell that has transformed me into this. Kill him and I will reward you with technology from other worlds.”

Illus. AKIRAwrong on deviantart

We did not believe his claim of being from another world. I however did. I rushed into a cave that was nearby the try and found nothing. I silently cast a revealing spell that caused a set of cobble stairs to materialize beneath me. I ran and I saw the elf. It was Senzu, the former king. I was furious to see his face again. I rushed toward him but he burst around and held out a rune. I was thrust backwards several feet before catching myself on my feet again. “You were a fool to come here” the old elf said. I laughed and shot a bolt of lightning from my finger tips shattering the ceiling above Senzu. Senzu caught the debris using another odd rune and thrust the debris toward me. I jumped through the shards and I knocked a run from the elf's hand. In a rage I killed the elf with a mere blow from the gauntlet I wore. I tore its head from its body and arose from the caves victorious. When I climbed from the rocks. My fellow soldiers bellowed with surprise and cheer. The tree that once stood by had become a man. He was dressed in garb I had never seen. He was so pleased to be free from his prison he immediately rushed towards the river. I knew I could not risk a phyrexian infection in the drinking water. I quickly drew my crossbow and fired a bolt into the lungs of the man. He died quickly. His screams were muffled and his eyes were closed. We returned to the city as heroes. Each of us became a legend. I was known as Keled the Slayer of Kings. But right now I was Keled Hahlisht, a planeswalker fighting for his homeplane. Later that evening we received word from Menrylia that she surrenders the war and is giving us control of the Mideastern territories as we had hoped. It was over. It was all over. That night I stared up at the moon and thought of all the great things I have done and what I was to do on other worlds. I went to sleep confident that the threat was gone.

I woke up to the sound of rain and screams. I rolled over in bed and saw the rain. It was not rain. It was oil. I ran outside in the oil flooded roads over to the city gate. “Prepare for an attack!” I shouted. I climbed a tower and readied a turret. The oil that rained down converged into something that was alive. We shot at the oil many times but the liquid kept converging into new monsters. We stayed up all night until the sun rose. The oil boiled and it cut and burned through everything that had flesh. At last when every building in the city was reduced to nothing. The dark clouds parted and revealed above us a multitude of floating objects. With a magical portal underneath them. There were metal dragons that prowled the skies and began picking off those who were a threat. I shot hexes in every direction. I had no reason to aim. If I hit a phyrexian that was good. If I hit a civilian he or she was likely going to be killed anyway. There was nothing left.

Illus. Lin Wenjun

I ran into the basement of a destroyed building and hid. I peeked from the cracks and saw an airship begin to land. From it emerged three humans that seemed to have been compleated by phyrexia. The knew where I was and they came. I was cornered and out of mana. I was powerless. “This isn't possible. I killed the one who brought the oil......... You can't be here you don't planeswalk.......... I removed that mans body as well....... The oil can't be here....... “The phyrexians stopped their approach. They then spoke unanimously. “He was not the Father of Machines. The Father of Machines is you” They then rushed towards me and everything went black.
I am Keled Hahlisht. I am dead.

Now showing a Planeswalker's Guide to Ezanavi

Meet Senzu

The Ecols

The War

Wizards

Ambush

Underworld

Horror

I also modified all cards with reminisce accordingly. Thanks

Glistening Frosts should indeed be "White mana symbol, Exile CARDNAME from your graveyard". Costs of activated abilities always put mana first, then tap/untap, then worded costs. Also, Forge Warden should be something like "At end of combat, sacrifice CARDNAME if it attacked alone."

I'm also very excited to see some Phyrexian text, although I'll admit I'm a little rusty. I should note that Phyrexian text reads vertically, top-down, and should have a begin and end sentence punctuation.

Thank you for all your help. The set has been complete for quite awhile now and I am adding only a few more modifications to make limited the best it can be. My friends, family, and I have been using Lackeyccg to playtest and we have found many errors in the wording of the cards themselves. We will continue to explore these errors and make the set the best it can be. See you all on Independance Day.

I am dead.

Illus. Christian Quinot

NOTES:

I like that the Arm token has equip 2 mana symbol: most people do a +1/+1 boost for equip 1 mana symbol, which seems problematic. I hope you have a way to deal with the little tokens, though.
Disciple of Madt sets off warning bells for me-- it's a 3/2 double strike for 1 mana symbolWhite mana symbolWhite mana symbol, which is a bit above the curve. The 1/0 stats are a little weird too.
Duskbane Angel might be too good for common? I mean, Seraph of Dawn was great in limited.
Echo of Empires is a sweet design.
Equinox Gaurd: typo.
Feint: A bit obscure of a trigger, imo.
Harbinger of Machines: Fate counters are cool, but this is going to be a huge pain in the ass at common, especially with swords running around.
Order of Norn: Very concerned about a card with Phyrexian mana causing you to gain life.
Plane's Captive looks TERRIFYING.

Amphin Alchemist: You have cycling in this set?? Huh??? Also, Invisible Stalker at common?
Corporeal Injury: The proud return of blue discard. I approve.
Eternities Gaurd: Also misspelled (Eternity's Guard is what you're going for I think), but more relevantly, cycling 0 mana symbol makes this a four-of in every deck ever.
Ghostblade Spirit: AWESOME.
Glistening Frost: I like these off-color activations, but is there a pattern to them?
Illusory Phenomenon: Maybe too good?
Mindcracks: This card shouldn't be common. If you pull four Mind Sculpt in limited, you make a mill deck. If you get three of this card you can reliably deck your opponent every game.
Ralizan Icewalker: I find this card funny for a couple reasons, but I still love this design.
Scion of Wind: +1/+1 counters in the same set as sword tokens is a bit weird imo. Plus this is probably too strong that way.
Tesaren Battlemage: I like the design, but I don't think it needs hexproof.
Venture Onward: Vision Skeins, or... instant-speed Concentrate? Nope.

Blighted Ambition: Nice!
Consuming Curse: REALLY COOL. But this raises some issues. If that player is the only player still alive but has 14 life, do they draw?
Darkworld Nuisance: Not seeing the similarity here.
Dreadculler Tilling: Shouldn't you discard cards equal to the card's CMC as well? Seems weird having two different numbers here.
Infect the Few: NICE!
Lost Everything: THAT NAME!!
Servants of Senzu: Why not wither?
Silent Stab: Hoo boy. What's with set and cycling 0 mana symbol? You have this, Eternity's Guard, and Gitaxian Probe altogether. That's a ton of free cards...
Thane's Knight: COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Ashen Horror: COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.
Enthusiast's Umbra: COOOL!!!!!
Etch into Eternity: Bye bye Rancor! I love this. Why are the red spoilers so cool?
Fiery Encore: AAAAAAAAAAA!!!! I LOVE THIS SET
Fire with Fire: Could cost Red mana symbol more so it's not as good on its own? But still AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Ghostfire Hellhound: Actually, I don't know why you brought back echo but only in one color? Much like cycling, it makes little sense to have a mechanic only show up in one color imo.
Goblin Firecaller: Wooooooooah. This card's a little busted! All it takes is one little Bojuka Bog to get you a crapload of tokens.
Madt Flamespitter: Does he need haste?
Oilfire Dragon: Oh my gooooooooooooooooood. I LOVE IT.
Reckless Kindler: Time Hop has a reprint of Cunning Sparkmage at uncommon, so I'm not sure if this guy who's a strict upgrade of that guy should be uncommon too.
Sunquash Colossus: Really cool name for a junk common. Also, not sure what the effect has to do with the rest of the card.
Torvox Crusader: It loses indestructible when you leave the combat phase, so it'll die if it takes lethal damage, just a little later than everyone else. Might want to reword that. Also concerned about interaction with survives, and also with the color pie, where red doesn't normally get indestructible.
Urabrask's Emissary: COOOOOOL.

Ei'tal Outrider: Seems like dangerous territory, tbh.
Kolbaka Druid: PUUUUUUUUSHED.
Senzu's Scout: But you only have one Aura at green common......
Whispering Shaman: COOOOOL. But also a little broken if you have one of those cards that makes all your mana into a different color of mana?

Bloodletter: Bloodletter A sad 'frowny'
Brutal Cataclysm: Needs to be an instant to work.
Dance of Runes: Why not scry X?
Demigod Chant: SO COOL. It's like, pseudo-vigilance and Seer's Sundial all rolled into one. I LOVE IT.
Dreadculler Headcounter: I love Coerced Confession and I love this card too.
Elite Bargains: But there aren't that many multicolor cards this set!
Menrylia: I'm concerned that people will play this card just for the reminisce effect.
Mutually Assured Destruction: COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Overworld Ghast: SCARY STRONG.
Sentient Sentinel: SCARY STRONG-ER!
Soul of Ezanavi: I love the Souls too, but this is pretty crazy good!

Malfunction Myr: Nifty!
Mana Gauntlet: One shot Everflowing Chalice is a bit on the weak side.
Steel Wall: A survive enabler, right? Cool.
Torment Engine: Name Mishra. Winking smiley

LAND CYCLE: Maybe my favorite cards of the set, although I'm embarrassed to admit it. Clean and fun.

TO CONCLUDE: This set is pretty nifty, because although reminisce scares me, there are a lot of cool designs here.

There are some crazy similarities between Ezanavi and Ixalan. Both planes restrict planeswalking, although ezanavi allows it if a walker is in the vacinity of a relic known as the destiny stone (Immortal Sun?). And both have mechanics that check when creatures are dealt damage. Survive triggers when a creature is dealt damage but not destroyed, and enrage triggers off of just being dealt damage. Coincidence?
