Neottolemo - Well, this is unmistakably Kaladesh...in name. Stick out your tongue Blue's is...really, really weird, both in terms of graveyard exile AND mass token creation. I like White's cute little reminder text. Green's seems almost a bit out of place with that mass hate? I feel like Kaladesh!Green mana symbol is more sympathetic to artifacts, at least when it comes to the major cards. Black's is cool but I'm a little puzzle as to why Deathtouch (I guess it works more as evasion in this case). Tbh my problem with this cycle is that not all 5 feel like they're nailing the feel for Kaladesh - if anything I wouldn't be surprised if one could transplant these onto Mirrodin pre-New Phyrexia or even another plane - like, aside from White mana symbol, you could take the "Artifact" modifier off and they'd just be Primordials. Doesn't really embody what Kaladesh is all about mecahnically IMHO.

Mort - Seems like a solid set of build around uncommons. No real complaints, could fit perfectly on Ravnica tbh.

guhkun - Not really sure if I like how Blue mana symbol slightly breaks the cycle, though it's an excellent Prowl supporter. Also iffy on Black mana symbol having Trample, I think Menace might've been a better fit.

Flo00 - Whew you are taking a big risk with Filigree breaking the cycle like that lol. While it's clever I think it also serves as the detriment to the cycle because you have all these "simple but clever" effects that support the strategy...and then you have this combo-machine that seems like it can't decide whether it wants to befriend Timmy or Johnny. Clever cycle ruined by one piece trying to be too clever.

Yoshi - Why do Norn and Urabrask's specifically break the upkeep pattern? Between that, Green looting (incredibly advantageous jump from Triumph of Ferocity for that matter), and just the overall weird nature of this cycle (some of these effects feel too pushed for CMC 1, honestly, I feel like Orthodoxy in particular would look a little more comfy at CMC 2), I'm not sure how to feel about the execution of this concept of "Enchants that come down early but have bigger impact in endgame." Gods did it better, IMHO.

Winner is Mort, for managing to make a mechanically sound cycle that doesn't compromise itself.

Yeah I should've gone with something else for Green mana symbol, maybe an Overrun effect or something instead. Really, I was mostly just trying to capture the "this artifact creature here IS SUPER PUSHED YOU GUYS JUST LOOK AT ITS OVERWHELMING POWER FOR THAT LOW OF A COST CAN YOU BELIEVE IT" vibe of the original Gearhulks, and I guess I kind of lost track of wheter some of them would or would not fit on Kaladesh. Yeah, the Black mana symbol one was meant to have deathtouch as a means of evasion. I guess Kaladesh doesn't really have much self-mill or graveyard matters or prominent sealife, but I like my Blue mana symbol Gearhulk, even though I recognize it doesn't fit the challenge that well.

Your next challenge: Design a four-card horizontal cycle combining one color with each of the others. For example, you could design a cycle of multicolored cards where each card is white and another color, or a cycle of monocolored cards that all have an activated ability that costs black mana.

@ Flo00 - I was skimming and thought the Green mana symbol one had Trample, not the White mana symbol one. But eh, I guess if that's the direction you want to go, there's nothing mechanically unsound with it on paper - it just looks weird to see the "other" color correspond to a keyword it's not associated with.

EDIT: Judging time. Celebi, I think there may be something wrong with your image host of choice, as I can't see your entries here and I know Zephyr had the same problem in the legendary creature game. Thus, I'm afraid I haven't been able to judge you here. I'd recommend adding a text version next time, just for safety.

I'm afraid I agree with ZephyrPhantom in that giving each card an "off" keyword for its secondary color doesn't really work here. I also feel that, although the Shade-like pumping ability is quite strong on each of these cards (and I'm not convinced it belongs at uncommon), they read very poorly when their stats are so bad for their costs. Forest Creeper is a particularly egregious offender here - however potent it is to be able to buff green creatures at will, a 2/1 haste for 5 looks awful. Not terribly enthused by these, all in all.

Hmm. I think I like the basic idea of these, but a couple of them could use some rebalancing - in particular, Stalwart Ambition giving your whole board battle cry is very strong. The costing on the second ability also doesn't feel all that white (and is a bit odd all around). I'm also concerned about the repeatable fight on Instinctive Ambition. The other two cards look pretty solid, though, and this is a strong, clean cycle all around.

This cycle reminds me a lot of the life-payment-flashback cycle in Torment, and I guess it's the logical extension of that set's privileged position for black and the bleeding of black into other colors - which is why it annoys me so much that Twisted Consumption doesn't have a life payment attached. The effects all strike me as reasonably suitable for both black and the color in question, and the individual designs are all clean and balanced, but that inconsistency with the life payment bugs me far more than it probably should.

Charm-style spells are always a bit hard to judge, but, all things considered, I do like these on the whole. A couple of the modes seem a little on the weak side, like the third on Aildy and especially the second on Ceard (there's a reason Thought Scour also draws you a card), and I'm slightly concerned about a couple of them being rather strong, like the second mode on Nall. But I can't find anything more glaring than that that's actually wrong with these.

@huw: Originally there was supposed to be an upward trend of life payment with the White mana symbol one supposed to make you pay 1 life (going from 0-1-2-3). Of course, I never went about making this change, so here we are.

Synergizes with Ishai, and forces opponents to buff your voltron win con to even touch you. Simple, but efficient.

Dendru, Lord of Kederekt

Unearth would be a nice cost to crack when the commander tax gets a little too high with this. But IMO, this is much too powerful for a single legend, especially one that can get access to Boros or Gruul colors and just decimate with an entire team of unblockables.

Bast the Inspired

Sounds like a fun card, and synergies with Vial Smasher. I think the stats are fine for the cost, especially considering there's a chance of whiffing albeit very low.

Fezo, Furious Fungus

Partner Voltron enabler. Pair this with Ishai and watch as your opponents cling to their counter spells in fear. First strike on Gruul is slightly odd, but not a color pie break (as red has access to it).

Wasitora, Nekoru Queen

Plummet on a stick. This will be incredibly bonkers or entirely irrelevant depending on your meta. Gotta say I don't really like things this narrow at that high of a cost in the command zone.

Overall: You had some fun cards, and my personal favorite was Bast. I particularly didn't like Dendru and Wasitora to an extent.

I've seen many attempts to make a Fblthp legend in the past, and this holds up decently. It's very weak for its cost, but with legends like Sidar Kondo to back him up and some janky cards to thow in the mix, he could do some serious damage fun. I like.

Gix, Phyrexian Genius

This is odd in Dimir colors, espcially with the randomness, but I can see the direction you were taking this in. It's almost like a reverse group hug effect that you can build around by not running many creatures and running big fat spells to take advantage of your Dark Rituals.

All Consuming Oni of Chaos

Pfft, why have this in the command zone when you can run it in a Rakdos deck? I kid. This is bonkers powerful with Vial Smasher, but not many of the other Partner legends. I like this in that it makes Burn a viable strategy in Commander, which it usually isn't.

Vor Golozar

A free Prey Upon every time your opponents cast things is much too powerful at that cost and with another commander/colors to boot. Just having enough fatties out can shut down most creature based strategies and allow you to turn those cards sideways to secure a win.

Fonn Zunich

Kind of obsolete when partnered with Sidar Kondo, but I digress. Pair this with dimir colors and every good evasion card and prepare to have some fun. GRANTED, I feel like the second effect makes little sense in Selesnya colors, and not Simic.

Overall : Very unique design with only a couple of slipups I particularity didn't like. My personal favorite was Fblthp, and the card that irked me the most was Vor Golozar. 4/5.

You next challenge is: Make a cycle of instants or sorceries that aren't "choose" spells (like commands/charms). Split cards are banned from this challenge too.

I'm so sorry guys, I thought I had judged everything pending.

So, as you might noticed, I'm really busy with real life stuff, so here's some quick reactions:

Flo: Really interesting cycle, fitting with the lore. The problem I see is two expert keywords in sorceries at uncommon, which are quite complicated for that rarity. Looks like the red one has some wording problems, and the wilt-leaf one is supposed to be green, right? : )

Mort: Pretty good take on an Accumulated Knowledge-like cycle. My favorite here is Lingering Plague as a aoe for pauper and my least favorite Surge of Ferocity as its almost Muscle Burst.

Winner is Mort.

I just dont understand why people pay thousands for a piece of cardboard.
Why just don't play some casual? Gee, it isn't even fun to play with, and especially against.
