I'm not exactly sure on the power level of most of these, but I think I really want to keep most of them at uncommon. I like how they all play pretty vastly differently.

I would suggest changing the green one to basic land count. That black one can be really strong methinks.

@Ziolang: They're built more for limited. The black one wouldn't get very big in limited unless you were drafting a lot of mill. In constructed, it cost as much as mortivore but doesn't get big until it lands a hit, and doesn't get bigger as you kill more stuff. Plus, it's super flavorful.

As for the green one, either way could work. Though I suppose your way would make trades less confusing (if you attacked with him and a big guy, but the big guy died, how many counters would you get).

I'll close this at the end of tomorrow.

Judging for the other contests is coming along (albeit kind of slowly).

Edit: almost forgot to close

Edit: late late late

Spoiler:

Convex Frost Fire

Spoiler:
Here come the Contraptions!
Working on the assumption that you can reliably assemble only one Contraption per turn after you play a Builder, none of the abilities are overpowered. The Gas Builder is a little strong, but you’re probably tapping it down at least one of the two turns to assemble, and that’s after you play it T4.
However, if you assume that you can reliably assemble (on average) three Contraptions every two turns, the Gas Builder becomes repeatable removal for a relatively low cost, especially if you can assemble Contraptions before it comes out.
I’m sort of at a loss as to what to say about it, so I guess I’ll just move on. The P/T on Shield Builder could probably be higher, but that’s the only other complaint about the others.

fluffyDeathbringer

Spoiler:
Interface is a really neat mechanic. The wording is a little odd, because as is I believe you can interface a creature with artifact X after artifact Y enters the battlefield and the creature becomes uninterfacted from all of its artifacts if one leaves the battlefield (...unless that was intended).
Aside from that, it’s used well here and can be used to great effect elsewhere.
All of the one drops get better as the game goes on, but some scale better than others- Scrapyard Digger and possibly Tech Brawler are the strongest, and Artificer Initiate is most likely the weakest. That being said, to get their full strength, each requires multiple uninterfaced artifacts, balancing them out quite nicely.

yoshi2001

Spoiler:
All of the transform cards are quite different and interesting, with nice flavor as well. That being said, they are quite different and I’m guessing it would be difficult to realize they’re a cycle without having the cards laid out in front of you if you don’t notice the payment for transforming trigger or the enemy color (which is pretty easy to do- I missed the payment similarity until halfway through the judging).
Renowned Duelist (without Renown) is a (sometimes) 3/1 first strike for 2. Headless Charger is pretty good as well since you can snag it without spending a card.
Curious Archivist could probably be a 1/3, but that would depend on the P/T of the other side.
The Rogue is pretty basic, but it’s interesting to see a card transform while attacking.
I’m a little wary of the Celebrant’s trigger on a hasty creature. The Oppressor is strong, but you do have to be low on life to flip it.
Nephali Farmhand looks and works nice, but the Root Stitcher feels more Black mana symbol than Blue mana symbol.

MrShinyObject

Spoiler:
Renown is still a solid mechanic.
All of the conditions (variables?) for the Renown triggers are easy to understand at a glance, and the relative strength of each card’s condition is balanced out by its keyword. Take Champion Fighter- if you can get in with it and a 2/X, it becomes a serious beatstick, but that’s all it is. Meanwhile, Adorned Hero probably won’t become that big, but first strike is a serious asset.

Spoiler:
As always, this was a hard choice, but…

I thought they work like Skizzik. The check is on trigger with Stonebrow’s Recruiter and continuously with Kalemne’s Recruiter. SO if the prowl cost was paid, the white one gives +2/+2 as long as its on the battlefield. At least that's how I imagined it.

Judging!

Flo0: I like these. Really powerful, flashy effects, but a pretty high cost and condition. I feel like Kalemne's recruiter should say "other" and the wording on the goblin seems a little strange but functional. I wish more than just the faerie had a second ability, it kind of messes with the cycle, but it's alright. Nice job on fixing them after the more confusing iterations.

Ziolang: At first I was kind of scared of an awaken cost that only costs one more, but then I realized that in a way that doubles the cost. I also like that you made it less of a mana sink and more of a situational X cost so you can't just make gigantic land creatures. Planar Flux should probably exile it first, then cast it, as many cards do. I like the power level of all of them, where without the awaken they're all lousy commons (untamed might, spell burst, etc.). That said, they still feel a little weak to me, but I never understood Awaken all that well.

Monger: I like the idea of these, but they have a lot of weird inconsistencies. The dromoka ones are pretty weak, the atarka one feels a little powerful, and the kologhan one is very strong but essentially has exploit, the mechanic for a different clan? It's not a bad cycle at all, just a little odd at places.

eden: I like the idea here, but it's a little too powerful an effect. First off, red usually discards the cards first, like rummaging goblin. Also, the torch is a lot better than most of the 3 mana looters red has. The multikicker effect matching but being 1 cheaper each iteration is pretty cool, and since the cards themsleves are so different they aren't just strictl;y better.

@MrShiny: Just for clarification, I assume the "cast" in Tides of Distortion is in the past tense. It doesn't ask you to cast another instant after Tides of Distortion resolves, but it asks for one before it resolves, right?

The cards are all fine. I just think lord effect shouldn't be common (except on slivers), not even on an aura. The only slightly similar card that comes to my mind is Emblem of the Warmind and that's an uncommon. Please prove me wrong if you can.
TheMartianGeek
First, I would have liked to know with how many counters Kyranai enters the battlefield. His abilities look ok to me.
I think the Familiar would be good enough without the absorb.
The Shield looks also good. Would be nice if it has any use for Kyranai's charge counters.
The Exploration seems very interesting. A little weird in green, but ok.
The Surge is also a nice card, but it doesn't really fit with the others.
Overall, Nazsmith's comment sums it up pretty well but in a positive way Winking smiley
MrShinyObject
I never played with ripple (except Relentless Rats + Thrumming Stone), so I can't tell how good or not good those cards are. But I like the overall idea. All cards seem fun to play.
Ziolang
I really like what you did there. It's a perfect way to use twobrid mana. I love that you can use the green one to do two totally different things.
yoshi2001
All four are nice and clean cards that look balanced.
Maybe you could word Dorael like those cards.
Seems like you changed Aegia while writing it down. I'll just ignore the last sentence Winking smiley

@e d e n
Yea, thanks, it wasn't supposed to be on separated lines. Fixed it already.

Hmm, I don't know. My entry is the "board wipe cycle" (besides the green version which is supposed to be an opposite effect) and Humility being a permanent makes the effect insanely powerful. Other creatures cast after World of Sheep won't be affected by it, so...

I miss traps, always good to see them again. These are definitely cute cards; with the blue one being the only one I'd expect to see in non-sealed play.

guhkun
Everybody hates mass-land destro. That aside, a rare-removal cycle is kinda kewl, save for the green one which may be undercosted...? I'm not exactly an expert on these things so.

Shiny
These are pretty cool. Shut down the stack for some much-needed intervention and a strategic format to their usage.

monger
You made it just in time! These are cool enough gimmicks, albeit I think the blue one is overcosted by 1 or 2. Then again I was the guy who never used any of the delve draw spells thinking they were useless... I suck at recognizing blue power levels. I suck at blue in general.
