Devouted Angel // Viel-Touched Angel: The transform condition is very situational, it's either useful against only black decks or requires some odd shenanigans with black damage spells, which are few and far between. The flip side feels overpowered. Reya Dawnbringer does a more limited version of the same thing- and she costs 9 mana! Either limit the ability by CMC, or color, or something, because it's broken right now.

@CoreyImperia: For my part, it's mostly coincidence. I had a similar, non-vanilla idea for CyrusLevy's challenge at the top of this page (it would gain power if there was a dragon on the field). But since I already posted a challenge, I waited for a different opportunity to post a card with this flavor.

I think Laboratory Maniac is the perfect card for my challenge, because it combines flavor and ridiculous mechanics like no other card. In order to use it, you must become a maniac yourself. That's why I love this card.

Winking smiley The card feels like I'm just waiting until I've finally won, which feels kind of wrong, even though the efforts of making Elsa work are quite interesting: She requires you to stall an opponent without removing their creatures. Flavorwise, I like that the snow queen almost cries for a Wall of Frost. So after all, I believe this might work. The number of counters needed is probably found by playtesting.

It's actually quite difficult to create an overcurved card that appeals more to Timmy than it does to Spike. Let's see if this works:

Snestphgar The Great Wyrm
Here is ZephyrPhantom's original wording for your challenge:
ZephyrPhantom wrote:
Your card has exactly five words in its rules text! (Reminder and flavor text do not count.)

I am counting more than 20 words of rules text.

Aside from that, your card is way too over the top and unelegant. It assumes that is played in a mono-green deck, which is ok, but offers way too much even with that kind of restriction. With 6 forests in play, Snestphgar costs 6 mana symbol. For that price, you get an indestructible 10/10? That is already way too strong. But then, it also grants itself +2/+2 and some kind of evasion? Mark Rosewater stated that big creatures should never have both evasion and protection from removal. I am judging your card on a mono-green basis because it is way too clunky to be used otherwise.

For matters of power/cost ratio, have a look at Kalonian Twingrove, an upcoming card from M15. This too has some kind of "affinity" to forests, and becomes castable at 6 Mana. Surely, the Twingrove is Rare and may hit even harder than Snestphgar, but it has no kind of evasion and no other protection from removal other than coming in a pack of two creatures. Your indestructible variant on the other hand is way too punishing, and gives your opponent no chance to react. It just presents an accomplished fact to your opponent: Their very likely defeat.

Always think of your cards from all perspectives, both the player using them and the players being confronted with them. Ideally, your cards should be fun and fair to both of them. Being confronted with an indestructible 12/12 is fun to no one.

Sorry if this got too heavy. I don't want to disencourage you from making cards, I really don't. I just hope this kind of criticism might help you make better designs.

For this challenge, I rolled the following:

Quote:
LIMIT #89: You can't divide me! Your card includes a prime number of prime numbers. (in written or digit form; the numbers may differ but don't have to. Non-prime numbers are not allowed.) (Thanks, Daij_Djan!)

I am not quite sure whether or not this limit applies to reminder texts. Comparing it to ZephyrPhantom's challenge, I'll assume that it does not. Feel free to ignore my entry if you disagree.

Notes
I created this card to display what might happen if two ravnican guilds worked together. This one shows Selesnya and Orzhov (obviously). At first, I tried include the keyword abilities of both guilds, but since I definitely wanted the Extort Thrulls, I scratched Populate, as it was being kind of redundant. There is still some synergy with Populate, though. What bothers me is that 2/2 might be a bit too strong for a token engine.

Foolish Error is basically just Murder with no regen, given that the Survivor type only appears on one card (see above post). I think most people would also just run Hero's Downfall in that slot, since versatility is more important than a niche bonus that 90% of the time does nothing for you, so I'm not sure if it would ever see play :/

Instant Rare
Counter target non-Snow spell.
"Part of the art of being a wise ruler is knowing when to say 'no'." - Elsa

Normally colorless would never get a counterspell, but I'd say in the appropriate set (ref. Not of This World) this could pass. At CMC 4 mana symbol, it's more expensive and limited than Cancel, but this is obviously counteracted by the fact it could potentially appear in any color (hence why it's at Rare instead of Common.) I'd actually cost this at 2 mana symbolSnow mana symbolSnow mana symbol, but the challenge calls for only nonstandard mana symbols, so oh well.

Old : Uses only non-standard mana symbols.
New : Your card is a Spirit, but isn't White mana symbol or Black mana symbol!

Edict of the Snow Queen: The cost is ugly, but that's the fault of the challenge restriction. 2 mana symbolSnow mana symbolSnow mana symbol would've served fine if not for that. I like it, for it reminds me of Not of This World. It's appropriate, but I guess it could still function as blue.

Oracle of Fruition
Green color identity Creature - Spirit Uncommon
(Nonexistent mana costs can't be paid.)
If two or more lands entered the battlefield under your control this turn, you may cast Oracle of Fruition without paying its mana cost.
Tap symbol: You may play an additional basic land this turn. Activate this ability only at a time you could cast a sorcery and only once each turn.
2/2

The "only once each turn" clause is to prevent any form of abuse; things like Seedborn Muse were what I had in mine. Though, the clause is probably largely unnecessary.

Returning Challenge: Your card is a Spirit, but not one that's White mana symbol or Black mana symbol!
New Challenge: One extreme or the other: your card has either a converted mana cost 1 or converted mana cost 10!

Your card neither fits the challenge (it doesn't use mana symbols at all) nor is it playable. (It would be if it was worded, "If two or more lands entered the battlefield under your control this turn, you may cast ~ without paying its mana cost.)

@Reality Glitch: Then your challenge needs to be more specific. It asks that I may only use nonstandard mana symbols, and by not using them, I haven't not met the challenge. Although, thank you for the wording, that's an oversight on my part.

Up: It was okay until you hit the last ability. Mill isn't a Blue/red mana symbol thing, and doesn't mesh with the rest of the card. Maybe dealing X damage or searching your library for an instant or sorcery with converted mana cost X or less, where X is the number of cards in your hand would have been more appropriate.

I figured a 1 mana Goblin would be pretty boring, so here goes!

On mobile from now on, so my wording will be off. Hopefully it'll get the point across.

How is the mana cost intended to work? Do you have to pay it to put the land into play?

Edit: Nvm.

Otherworldly Tyranny: "At the beginning of your upkeep, each opponent sacrifices X permanents, where X is the number of Eldrazi you control." "X mana symbol, Tap symbol: Put target creature card with converted mana cost X or less chosen at random from target opponent's graveyard onto the battlefield under your control." That aside, it's probably a little cheap for it's power-level, even considering how powerful the Eldrazi were to begin with.

Molecular Impulsion 7 mana symbol
Tribal Instant - Eldrazi Uncommon
Destroy target creature that's attacking you or a planeswalker you control.
Molecular Impulsion costs 7 mana symbol less to cast if that creature has power 7 or greater.

Returning Challenge: Your card has flash or is an instant!
New Challenge: The Polymopher's only the beginning; your card has something to do with blue frogs!

Up: I'm not entirely sure if you worded that the way you meant to. Right now, it's free if you are being attacked by a creature with power 7 or greater, while Not of this World (which I'm assuming was your inspiration) gives you the bonus when you have the fattie. Honestly, I find the latter wording more synergistic and flavorful, but I could understand if you meant to word it the way you did (The targeted creature collapsing under its own mass...?).
