YOU'VE ALL BEEN JUDGED

pang4
Voracious Blade 5 mana symbol
Artifact - Equipment
Equipped creature has +13/+13.
At the end of turn, sacrifice equipped creature.
Equip 4 mana symbol
The black blade is a demon's trap, set to embolden the proud, and fell them in one swing.

Very clever! A simple and cute design. It seems like it'd be very good with an unblockable creature, or anything with trample... but isn't all equipment, in the end? Fairly costed, and fairly interesting! Nice job.

Daji_Djan
Scythe of Mind's Death 4 mana symbol
Artifact - Equipment Rare
Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to an opponent, exile the top 13 cards of that players library.
Equip 3 mana symbol

Seems very powerful, but not in any broken manner. It has no built-in unblockability or other craziness (cough swords cough). Good flavor, but some flavor text might have been nice!

Sewn-Eye
Wind-Woven Fan Blade 4 mana symbol
Artifact — Equipment Rare
Equipped creature gets +3/+0.
If equipped creature's power is 13 or greater, it is indestructible.
Equip 2 mana symbol
"A storm of steel is sufficient a shield for one such as I."
—Shiude, the Four-Armed

The dude is so good at attacking that he can swing his sword around to block stuff, I presume? The name is the only part of the flavor I really don't get. I do think the mechanics of the card are neat enough, however! Makes the really strong guys stronger. It just seems like 13 power is hard to reach, no?

lordofthetoasters
Scepter and Orb 4 mana symbol
Artifact - Equipment Rare
Scepter and Orb can only be attached to a legendary creature and can’t be attached to a token.
Equipped creature has shroud.
6 mana symbol, Tap symbol, Sacrifice equipped creature: Put 13 1/1 white Human creature tokens onto the battlefield.
Equip 6 mana symbol

How many token legendaries are there? Answer: seven. The clause feels a bit unnecessary. I do like the idea of the card (a ruler makes a bunch of tokens), but it feels a little clunky. And I'm not sure why the ruler dies, apart from balancing.

Final Boss
Conversion Stronghold 1 mana symbol
Artifact - Fortification Rare
4 mana symbol: Put a charge counter on ~.
Whenever you tap fortified land for mana put a charge counter on ~.
When ~ has 13 or more charge counters on it fortified land taps for 4 mana of any colour combination.
When ~ becomes unattached from a permanent, remove all counters from ~.
Fortify 1 mana symbol
Alchemists of the stronghold always have a way to get more of what they want.

Interesting! It charges up over time, until it eventually becomes a super powerful land that makes super-charged mana. Very cool! Let's say you played it turn 1, and then devoted as much mana production to it as you could.

Turn 1: It hits the field
Turn 2: Other one taps to attach it, you tap for a counter
Turn 3: Play something, 2 counters total
Turn 4: Charge it, 4 counters total
Turn 5: Charge it, 6 counters total
Turn 6: Charge it, 8 counters total
Turn 7: Charge it, 10 counters total
Turn 8: Charge it twice, 13 counters total

So, it'll take around 8 turns to get it up to max, not using proliferate shenanigans at all. Seems a bit safe, for something that'll be churning out buttloads of mana afterwards. I really like the flavor, too. Nice work!

Droqen
Widow's-Sting Stiletto 4 mana symbol
Artifact - Equipment Rare
Equipped creature has deathtouch.
Whenever equipped creature would deal combat damage to a player, you may have that player lose 13 life instead.
Equip Phyrexian Black ManaPhyrexian Black ManaPhyrexian Black ManaPhyrexian Black Mana

As I told you (me and Droqen are pals), I still think having four Phyrexian mana lined up like that looks a bit ugly. It's not flagrantly bad, just ugly. The actual mechanic of the card is interesting - it'll either take out a creature each time, or it'll wipe out a large swathe of life -- "player" deathtouch, if you will. Neat!

Styrofoamking
Darksteel Fortress 6 mana symbol
Artifact - Fortification
4 mana symbol: Until end of turn, Equipped land becomes a X/X colorless artifact creature, where X is equal to the number of lands you control. If you control thirteen or more lands, it gains Indestructible.
Fortify 2 mana symbol

This should be "it is indestructible", as indestructible isn't a keyword -- it's just a word-word. Otherwise, this is a pretty clever card! It's at least going to be a 7/7, which is pretty devastating, and it can be a lot more. I like how, if you do all of this in one turn, it adds up to 12 mana -- so close! I do think, however, that all animating effects require a subtype. This should make it into a Juggernaut, probably.

Noahlotr
Banner of Endless War 4 mana symbolRed mana symbol
Artifact - Equipment Rare
Equipped creature gets +13/-4 and attacks each turn if able.
White mana symbol: Transform Banner of Endless War.
Equip 1 mana symbolRed mana symbolRed mana symbol
///
Banner of Endless Peace
White mana symbolArtifact - Equipment Rare
Equipped creature gets -4/+13 and has vigilance.
Red mana symbol: Transform Banner of Endless Peace.
Equip 1 mana symbolWhite mana symbolWhite mana symbol

What a fantastic parallel! I do think that -4 on toughness is extremely prohibitive, as this pretty much only works on giant creatures (which IS fitting for a banner, but...) I also think the name on the other side should be "Enduring Peace" or something. "Endless" just sounds odd.

Melkorios
Tower of Unending Horrors 3 mana symbol
Artifact - Fortification Rare
The land this artifact is attached to provides an extra Black mana symbol.
8 mana symbol, Sacrifice Tower of Endless Horrors: Put 13 2/2 black Horror creature tokens with flying onto the battlefield.
Fortify 4 mana symbol

Interesting card, but I do think that latter ability is very powerful. That's pretty much a finisher. While it does require turn 8, and it can be taken care of before that, it's still VERY good.

Sohel
Demonblood Scythe 6 mana symbol
Legendary Artifact — Equipment Mythic Rare
Equipped creature is 6/6, has flying and "6 mana symbol Tap symbol, Discard a card: Demonblood Scythe deals 13 damage to target creature. Spend only red and/or black mana on this ability."
Equip 4 mana symbol, Sacrifice a creature
Wielded by no other than Griselbrand himself and soaked in the blood of his demonic bethren, the scythe has brought ruin to both human and monster alike.

Woo-ee! That is a very flavorful and absolutely insane card. I like how it turns things into demons, not just buffing them. Very nice. Very awesome. It really gives the flavor of "YOU ARE POSSESSED BY EVIL" to the entire piece. I like it!

k1l1
Blade of Wisdom 1 mana symbolWhite mana symbolBlue mana symbol
Artifact — Equipment Rare
You have no maximum hand size.
As long as you have thirteen or more cards in hand, equipped creature gets +8/+8 and has vigilance and first strike.
Equip 4 mana symbol
“Studying of the art of combat can prove vital in times of war.” — General Walsh

Very nice. I like how this is a more peaceful variant of all the weapons we've seen so far. It reminds me of Empyrial Plate or Empyrial Armor, which is a good thing. Very cute. Very clever. I find the flavor-text doesn't really fit the themes of the rest of the card, but that's not too much of a problem.

Kagerows
Ockham's Razor 7 mana symbol
Artifact - Equipment Mythic Rare
Whenever equipped creature deals damage to a creature or player, it deals 13 damage instead.
Equip 4 mana symbol

Indeed, this does look familiar! However, it still deals damage, which can make for some tasty triggers (yum yum, i love me some Cold-Eyed Selkie) and it triggers off of pingers too. While this could be dangerous, it has to wait until turn 8 to equip to a pinger (unless you use some shenanigans, I guess), so it shouldn't be too bad. There's plenty of room for response in the space of a turn. Overall, clever mechanic -- but I'm not sure if that name is right.

zuty
Hangman's Noose 4 mana symbol
Artifact - Equipment Uncommon
Tap symbol: Equipped creature gets -13/-13.
Equip 0 mana symbol

Well. It's a sac-engine, essentially, but it has the possibility of using Magnetic Theft to sneak it onto an opponent's dude, and hang'em to death. Honestly, while I appreciate the gimmick and stuff, it doesn't seem to have much use besides that, no? Maybe if it did something whenever the creature equipped to it died? I do really think the entire idea of it is clever, though. Nice work on that end.

EyeofTruth
Deities Messager 4 mana symbol
Artifact - Equipment Rare
Tap symbol, Sacrifice equipped creature: Roll three six sided dice, CARDNAME has one of the following effects
3 to 7 -- Sacrifice CARDNAME.
8 to 12 -- Each opponent loses three life and you gain life equal to the life lost this way.
13 -- Destroy all nonland permanents, each player loses 13 life.
14 to 17 -- Destroy two target permanents.
18 -- You win the game.
Equip 4 mana symbol

This should probably be "Deity's Messenger", if you're going for the possessive. I do think the rolling of die will not be seen in a Magic set soon, and this is definitely a weird card because of it. 3-7 is about a 3/20 chance, 8-12 is about a 12/20 chance, 13 is a 2/20 chance, 14-17 3/20 chance, and 18 a .5% chance.

elmdor
Slobad’s Exoskeleton 4 mana symbol
Artifact -- Equipment Rare
As long as you have 13 or more life, equipped creature gets +4/+4 and has flying.
As long as you have four or less cards in hand, enchanted creature gets +13/+13 and has defender.
Equip 3 mana symbol

You're right. This is a really weird card. This feels like it's either from the beginning of Magic, or from Future Sight, hehe. It does seem intriguing enough -- as long as you're doing okay, life-wise, you get a bonus... and you create an amazing wall, if only you empty your hand. A weird mix of reckless playstyle, and more controlling playstyle. Weird, but neat!

hooliganj
Foraging Outpost 4 mana symbol
Artifact — Fortification Uncommon
Fortified land has "When a basic land enters the battlefield, untap this card."
When there are 13 or more basic lands in play, sacrifice fortified land.
Fortify 2 mana symbol
When the time comes to leave an area, they employ the scorched earth strategy.

I find this most interesting that it counts both sides. It'll usually die out around turn 7 (depending on who starts off), so it essentially pushes you straight into the late-game. I'm not sure how often basic lands see play (I'm not competitive), so I think it is pretty balanced. Nice work!

So, who wins, in the end? It really comes down to two entries...

Our competing finalists
Fortification, vs. Equipment!
Conversion Stronghold, vs. Blade of Wisdom!
Final Boss, vs. k1l1!

Both creatively used the limitations, creating stellar and intriguing cards, but only one really made a card that I could see existing. For this reason, I pick...

Winner
k1l1! Nice job, sir! You get the honors of making a new Limit, and also of having the house land in your favor. Bravo!

Judging Notes
Eh... I was fully aware that I made a card that would never see print, so not surprised at all on that account. In hindsight though, I should've made the abilities more appealing to make the eight mana and the sacrifice worth it. Can't be helped I guess...

Hmm... I don't want to make a Snow or a Tribal card... wait... Legendary is a Supertype, right?

5/5

This mechanic is based off the wording for Haunt and is VERY linear, this is at best worth as much space as Undying got. Nevertheless, I love me some splashy mythics

Edit: Added a casted from hand condition to remove abuse potential from flicker effects like Venser. To compensate that, he's been boasted to 5/5

Comments and Extras
Digital is mainly used as a way to circumvent non-Digital sources or interferences, and it represents the capability of the spell to access the 'ether', a powerful network based around arcanowave transmissions through the ethersphere, an alternate atmosphere. AKA, the internet.

Most Digital things are creatures, but the occasional Digital enchantment exists, and there's even some Digital instants and sorceries -- though they aren't too common, if you catch my drift. The gimmick of Digital is that it allows for stuff like "Protection from Digital" or "Digital creatures you control", and the reason creatures have it as an activated ability is both for limited (so they are useful outside of Digital decks), and to represent 'jacking into' the system. Flavor-wise, it represents anything with capability of 'accessing the network', as it were -- even if it doesn't reside there all the time, it has the ability to interfere with it. Such as our Saboteur up here -- he doesn't hang out in the network all the time, but he briefly drops in to do some hacking.

@Inanimate - I don't know how picky the judging will be, but Tribal is technically a type, not a supertype: the supertypes are world, legendary, snow, basic, and ongoing (as in an ongoing scheme)

...Really? I always thought it was a supertype. Weird! Thank you for the advice. I was wondering why no one had tried it... Well, my entry's been edited!

Goblin Squib 2 mana symbol
Uncommon
Prototype Artifact -- Contraption
(Copies of prototypes lose the prototype supertype.)
When Goblin Squib enters the battlefield, put a charge counter on it.
Tap symbol: Detonate Goblin Squib. (Sacrifice Goblin Squib. If you do, it deals damage equal to the number of charge counters on it to target creature or player.)

Bad wordings
Should the explanation for what 'Prototype' means
go on prototype cards,
or on the cards that do copying of them in particular?
(See below spoiler)

Bighead Tweaker 3 mana symbolRed mana symbol
Rare
Creature -- Goblin Rigger
3 mana symbolRed mana symbol: Assemble a prototype permanent you control. (Put a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of a prototype permanent you control. Copies lose the prototype supertype.)
3 mana symbolRed mana symbol: Detonate target prototype permanent. (Target prototype permanent's controller sacrifices it. If he or she does, it deals damage equal to the number of charge counters on it to target creature or player. You choose the target.)

@Inanimate - Your first card didn't even have an ETB effect anyway.

Also, take a gander at Tarmogoyf for the card types!

... Now that I'm looking at it, has anyone else noticed that it says "Planeswalker"? Took me months before I remembered that Tarmogoyf was before the first Planeswalkers were printed.

Hm, I never noticed 'Tribal' was on that list. The reason it has 'Planeswalker' is actually a story in a recent column of Rosewater's, "You Had Me At Helvault".

Also, yeah. I was worrying so much about the supertype, I didn't even think about the other limits. Man, my memory's been bad lately...

(this post previously contained a bunch of proposed corrections to the above card. removed them because they now serve no purpose.)
edited, responding to the below two posts:

Kagerowrs: ok (:

k1l1: Wait, is there a problem with proposing corrections?
I'm not critiquing the card's design, just wording
so that Kage can get his concept across clearly.

@Jolykj: Thanks. Also, thanks for not changing any of the wording on the card.

@Droqen: Sorry for not answering sooner. I just saw that you edited your post. Regarding your question: Rewording, helping someone with a mechanic, balancing their card, or any kind of critique is frowned upon in games like this, where there's a judge. Just check the first post of the You Make the Card game. I'm not saying that it's that serious, but it could influence judging, and another person helping out with the card makes it both of yours and not just theirs.

@k1l1: (Hmm. this is probably the wrong place to be discussing this. Last post with regards to it)

Not to be confrontational, but one thread doesn't set a precedence; this isn't an excuse: "oh, I didn't know", but more of: "I don't yet get the feeling everyone feels this way".
(I'd rather defer to http://magicseteditor.sourceforge.net/node/5034)
I can understand if it's about stepping on the judge's toes, but if it's just about the entrant's individuality: Do you think nobody discusses their designs with others before posting it? Maybe after, triggering an edit?
In any case, I'll refrain from doing so in the future. Apologies to anyone who was bothered!
