Yeah, I know, I misspelled noob. But seriously, I just downloaded MSE yesterday, anyone have any tips they could share with me? (keeping in mind that I only, y'know, tearned Magic a couple months ago.) Thanks! Monjoy. Oh yeah. |

Focus on a game you're familiar with first. (Despite the name, Magic Set Editor does support games other than Magic, such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Fluxx, Digimon, etc.)

Yeh...Great advice jaske
Crazydragon) I'm not being facetious. If you're familiar with a game, you're more apt to (a) know the relevant terminology and rules and (b) know the relative power level of the game.
Knowing the rules for Magic will help you with Magic or Space, but not with VS System, Heresy: Kingdom Come, or the like.

I only play Mtg so I can''t really relate eiuther
I have a White Combo deck, I presume you have nothing.
To be fair, knowing the rules to Heresy: Kingdom Come won't really help you design for it - that game was a complete mess. Beautiful cards, though.
De Chelonian Mobile.
My Shadowfist sets.
The Usagi Yojimbo CCG.
Yeah, I'm really only interested in making Magic cards. I'm working on a set/block right now, with a novel to go with each set like they used to do. I'll post it in the Showcase once I'm done.

So, once I'm done, how can I post it?

Oh yeah.
MtaRidley) Post it in the Card Showcase forum, along with "preview cards" in text or graphic form, using [ spoiler ] tags.
If any cards have art and you post them in graphic form, you need to attribute the artist (preferably) or the copyright holder.

I'm sorry, I still don't understand.
1. How do I convert cards to graphic form?
2. How do I insert spoiler tags?
3. How do I put the graphic card into the showcase forum?
4. How do I put the set as a whole into the showcase forum?
Any help with this would be welcome, even though my set won't be finished for a while. Thanks!

Oh yeah.
1) MSE has an export function that allows you to export individual cards or even the whole set, Look in the File menu.
2) [ spoiler ]<content to be spoilered>[ /spoiler ] (remove the spaces.)
3) Upload it to photobucket or a similar service, then use [ img ] tags to get the image to render here.
4) Liberal use of (1), (3) and (2), in that order. The set file itself goes onto pifro.
