So, I kinda got the idea for this from the You Make the Card game. I've just never seen flavor text as one of the themes, and I'd like to. So, here we are. You're only given the flavor text, and you can do whatever else you want with the card. But you must match the flavor text. I'm giving you four flavor texts. Feel free to make a card for two or three of them, or even all four of them, and I'll average the scores together. Or just make one card. "You don't know what you're talking about." Many practitioners of the elder magicks argue that "shadows" and "undead" do not equal "bad" and "evil". It is said that Nora descended from the sky, and birthed the fields of wheat. "Nature is capricious. Everything dies eventually." I'll judge in 4 days. Have fun and be creative! "Too wary to charge, too prudent to serve. Not anymore." |

I like the idea, just can't think of a card.

By the way, awesome idea.
I might make cards for the other texts later as well.
EDIT: Thought of another.
Crumbling Fissure
Instant
Each player chooses a creature they control. Crumbling Fissure deals 4 damage to one of them at random.
"Nature is capricious. Everything dies eventually."
I may contradict myself a lot, but at least I'm not a hypocrite.

I think this might just be better if only one flavour text is used. Just what I think.

Well, that’s that folks. The end of the first round, and…
… emerges victorious!
Feel free to start the next round whenever you want. You can change the rules up however you want, but you just have to keep it centered on flavor text. You can give as many lines of flavor text as you want, you can allow them to submit as many entries as you want. You don’t even have to average the totals if you don’t want to. Just keep it fair! You can spice it up with your own ideas or whatever you want, but again, keep it centered on the flavor text. I just felt like I had to say this, since I don’t think I explained how this was going to work very well XD.
Also, sorry about not judging yesterday. I ended up going to a party that I was invited to 15 minutes prior. Then I got home and fell asleep.

Good job Marquis Elmdore de Limberry, if my memory doesn't disgrace me on FF Tactics.
May I suggest that you offer multiple different flavour texts, but ask us to choose just one. It makes it easier on the judging, for a start.

You are correct, Anuttymous

Sorry but I won't be able to continue the game until tomorrow, you'll have to wait...
I'm not English and I (probably) can't write decent flavor texts. I hope you will accept some quotes from videogames, movies, books, etc. This allows more texts, which means more players!
1) "You will always remember this as the day you almost caught <insert name>!"
[Captain Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean.]
2) Ah, it is hard to speak of what it was,
that savage forest, dense and difficult,
which even in recall renews my fear!
[Dante Alighieri, The Divine Comedy. Translation by Allen Mandelbaum]
3) "Did I say no purple dragons? Did I?"
[Madame Mim, The Sword in the Stone]
4) "People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annihilated: vaporized was the usual word."
[George Orwell, 1984, Book 1, Chapter 1]
5) "What man has joined, nature is powerless to put asunder."
[Aldous Huxley, Brave New World]
6) "What God hath joined, let not man put asunder."
[found somewhere in the Bible]
7) "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain."
[probably Dark Knight]
8.0) "Behold for true fell pow'r of the Dark!"
[Belias, Final Fantasy Tactics]
"All science is either physics or stamp collecting." [Ernest Ruthenford]
"In man we all pray!" [Tony Hadley]

Vaporize

Sorcery (R)
Destroy target creature, then exile it, then ban it from the game, then burn it, then slip the ashes down it's controller's pants.
Draw a card.
"People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annihilated: vaporized was the usual word."
Notice, that this is an unhinged card, and it's NOT meant to win. It's just a joke from my side.

Unknow -

Enchantment
When Unknow enters the battlefield, name a nonland card, then return all cards with the chosen name to their owner's hand.
Whenever a spell with the chosen name is cast, exile it.
People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annihilated: vaporized was the usual word.
Yes, that is supposed to be Unknow, not Unknown. It's Newspeak. To unknow something makes it unknown. Or something like that.
I may contradict myself a lot, but at least I'm not a hypocrite.
Divine Shield - 3

Enchantment - Aura
Enchant target non-creature permanent. The enchanted permanent is indestructible.
What God hath joined, let not man put asunder.
A bit bland, but that seemed like it would fit.

Alright, so I've got some flavor text here for cards I'd like to see. Please, just submit one card to make the judging easier. Each submission will be graded on balence, creativity, and overall flavor. I prefer not to use numbered or percent ratings, so I'll just say that the overall flavor will be the biggest factor.
Here are the lines, so have fun!

Well, has this thread stalled or something? I probably need to pick some easier flavor text next time (if there is one). Anyways, due to the inactivity, it would probably only be right for a new round to start with a new set of flavor text.
Both cards here have good connections with the flavor text and the ghostly connections with the Æther. It's a tough call here, but I prefer windandfire's card overall; having an ability that's less situational always helps. (When I make cards, I try to avoid things that are very situational.) I do have to say that this is similar to something that was in my design file at one point, but ended up being cut.
So, windandfire, you may go up again.

Wow, even I forgot about this game. Oh well, thanks. I'll have to wait until the weekend to come up with flavor text through - sit tight until then.
