Ah, incredible! I'm about as pleased it's finished as I am I won.
Challenge
EITHER
As some of you may know, I'm currently doing my little Kune set. Now, I've done all the cards for it, but as some may remember I'll be doing a second set. And I have a certain gap in my skeleton, that I think would be good to put here as a challenge.
Quote:
RU02 (rare blue #2) - creature, Human, "Protector of Straile", nonripple, gallant and/or lifeline, not aggressive
With whomever's permission (it might not necessarily be the winner) I'd like to use ONE of the submitted cards in the second set of Kune.
If you are not following Kune or are confused
This means I want a rare blue Human creature named "Protector of Straile" (can be a subtitle), that isn't aggressive. You may give it gallant and/or lifeline, but not ripple.
Gallant - As long as you control no (other) creatures, [effect].
Lifeline (If this would die, you may exile it instead. If you do, you may return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.)
OR
If you don't feel like making a card for my own personal needs (I don't blame you, I wouldn't) then you can submit a card based similar to the above:
A blue creature that gets better the more you get hurt or threatened or similar. Could go along Laboratory Maniac lines, or maybe Riddlekeeper.
I'll judge next time I'm free, giving a clue closer to the date. Enjoy!
I'm opting for the second challenge, only because it has more room to work with.

Comments
I tried to fit into both challenges a bit. I was inspired by Riddlekeeper to punish a player for attacking with a lot of creatures, so I made it so it can block lots of creatures -- and I then got the idea of having it 'frost over' things it blocks, much like Wall of Frost. Added (compared to Wall of Frost) because that Gallant effect can sometimes be nasty.

Fits the challenge very well. I think it'd be way too weak though, as it's a maximum of a 10/10 (which is obviously good), however Mycosynth Fiend does a similar thing, but is so much easier to control, and could be bigger with more players. Considering poison was a rather insular mechanic, this card wouldn't do too well really. Regardless, good design and representing the challenge very well.

Frost effects are nice and a good way to slow an onslaught. Although quite good, I can't say I really feel much love for this kind of card, as most people tend to get annoyed at Wall of Frost. The reduced toughness might stop that, though. Also, blocking multiple creature tends to be white, but that doesn't matter. Having said that, the way it works feels aesthetically pleasing, as it sort of works well without other creatures, by blocking as though you'd had others. Covers the front, if that makes sense.

Sort of works as a “You shall not pass!!!” card, however I think that could be too powerful, with the indestructible and everything. Good thing is you wouldn't be able to attack them each turn while stopping them harming you, however it is a bit of a grief card. Very regrettably (don't tell anyone I told you) I actually have a similar card to this within the set, with toned down power level, but hey, great minds think alike, right?

With this card, I feel that the less aggressive side is ignored - being a 3/4 he could do some damage. (I'm being a hypocrite right now, you'll see why soon.) However, the saviour part is nice, and I really like the tapping permanents upon death. Flavour text says it all really, which is good. In my opinion, it could've done with lifeline naturally, then gain the tapping ability with gallant.

For two mana you get a Halls of Mist kind of effect? As well as reducing that to only one creature, which can be blocked on the Protector. Me thinks this could be too cheap, and easily broken. Without that, though, the effect is nice and works well as a protective barrier. I don't think I could fault this on flavour, merely power.

Lifeline
When Protector of Straile enters the battlefield, put two 1/4 blue Human Wizard creature tokens with lifeline onto the battlefield.

Now, this card was good, and I loved it as I was reading. It produces two more 1/4s which is epic, and then... Oh, those tokens have lifeline too. That means that when one of them dies, you get back mister Protector. And play him again, to get two more tokens. And this repeats a lot. I know there's stuff to stop it happening, but the point is – as you pointed out – it provides card advantage. But to this extent? Too much, I believe.

Now, I know there are things like Sky Swallower, but really? At least Sky Swallower was ideally unplayable because your opponent got your stuff, but with this, they don't get it. And for one more you get about +5/+5 more, and indestructible and hexproof. Okay, okay, defender, yeah, but... Sometimes cards try too hard to be too much. Simpler design and different thinking can make a much better card. Sorry for seeming like I'm hating on this. It just needs some work.

Rule of Law does this well enough, and is cheaper, plus uncommon (reprinted anyway), though obviously, it's not available in blue, where this is. But Propaganda does this so much better? Admittedly, this would make for a second playset, but it's rather expensive to give Propaganda a tiny 1/2 body, thus making it prone to more removal. Works well into the role of Protector, though, and a 1/2 isn't going to be very aggressive.

Okay, so this isn't so bad. Also, flash is a fun way to surprise people, especially with this card. A few problems though – you bounce one once per turn for just . My turn, that's in your hand. Your turn, you play it and I bounce it again. My turn I bounce your other one. Your turn you play one of the two, I bounce it. My turn I bounce yet another one. See the problem? I know you tried to stop it being broken, but once per turn includes opponents' turns. The best way to stop something like this would probably be a little symbol. Furthermore, you can't even stop it easily – it has shroud. I think this is too breakable, but it was indeed a nice idea.

Even though giving all your things hexproof is powerful, the gallant stops it actually being that effective. A nice way to protect yourself, almost like a premature Dissipation Field. A very good blocker, as it'll bounce the creature before damage is dealt, but I don't think that makes it too good, thanks to the restriction of having only one creature. I must admit though, this doesn't feel that impressive, thanks to the restriction, though in actual play it could be a pain.

Strange having it with a base toughness of 4, but it stops it dying I guess. The “bad effect” is typically bad, however it plays nice enough that you could shrug it off, especially with Zedruu the Greathearted for example. This would be very large though, seeing as your opponent will generally have just as many lands, plus more, making this easily an 8/12, getting bigger each turn. But, I do believe the side effect is enough to power this down, as you'd eventually end up giving everything else away. Bazaar Trader this, and put Pacifism on it, and you're in for a laugh.

Awesome. It feels great to win on the first try. Nice job to everyone else
I have been thinking and I know what will be the 2 choices for challenges this week. You may choose only one.
1.
Spoiler:
Make a joke card. For example, look at some cards from the unhinged, unglued or even undone sets. I will be judging off the following:
LOL- It MUST make people laugh. This is crucial to your score!
Flavor- It MUST have good flavor. Make sure it is very tasty at that.
Wording- Wording MUST be updated if already created (for eaxample, "die" now means a creature that goes to the graveyard from the battlefield).
(PICTURE)t- If you upload a card image, it's basically extra creadit. NO POINTS TAKEN IF PICTURE IS NOT UPLOADED!!!!!!!!!!!!
2.
Spoiler:
Create a card based on our beloved planet EARTH! I have attempted to make a set off this style, and it was a success. It will be judged by the following:
Realistc- Must NOT be fantasy. It needs to actually exist in real life.
Wording- Yep. Wording needs to be updated.
Flavor- You must have flavor in this. LOTS OF IT.
Rarity- The rarity MUST be uncommon, rare or mythic rare. No commons, just because I want to see cards that aren't... well, useless.
Enjoy the contest!!
Spoiler:
If you do a joke card, I will choose the best and make a card image of it if you arleady haven't. For the EARTH cards, I won't, because I have already started a set with those cards.

Jace, Stoneforge Mystic
Planeswalker - Jace
When Jace, Stoneforge Mystic enters the battlefield, choose one: Put the top 10 cards of target player's library into their graveyard; or search your library for an easily abusable equipment card and attach it to your Squadron Hawk.
+2 Each player draws a card. If you drew an equipment card, draw another card.
-6) Pick up your opponent's deck. Then, throw that deck onto the ground. Put all cards that landed face up into that player's graveyard and then shuffle the rest into their library.

Argh... I knew i should have just given my card haste and be done with it. It was originally a tap ability, but i changed it so it could take advantage of the flash, either way, good job Zempur.
Awesome. It feels great to win on the first try. Nice job to everyone else
I have been thinking and I know what will be the 2 choices for challenges this week. You may choose only one.
1.
2.
Enjoy the contest!!

Actually nut, my card was unplayable because it would shuffle itself into your library as well. I forgot to say "Other".
Anycase.. for this contest.. I'll have to do joke card.
Bookworm Bizatch Slap

Sorcery
Count the number of cards in your library, then slap target player with it.
Bookworm Bizatch Slap deal X damage to that player, where X is the number of cards in your library.
How does it feel to be slapped by OVER NINE THOUSAND years of history?!
Madness returns in Chornostasis
I'll do a joke card too.
Heh, sorry Picks-at-Flies. Must've ninja'd your submission, and then had to head to bed quickly.
I feel like trying an Earthen card...
The Great Pyramids

,
: You gain X life and draw X cards, where X is the number of charge counters on CARDNAME.
Legendary Artifact
Whenever a creature you control dies, if CARDNAME is untapped, you may exile that creature card. If you do, tap CARDNAME and put a quest counter on it.
The idea is that the creatures are buried with their treasure, and that you could come and loot it. I'd imagine there's a lot, so I made the looting repeatable

Brass Knuckles

Artifact - Equipment
Equip
If the equipped creature would deal damage to a creature or player, it deals that much damage plus 2 to that creature or player instead.

If your opponent would win the game, you may play this card.
When you play this card, you may shout, “GOD SAYS NO!”. If you do, restart the game.

This is an amusing one that combines my love of Magic, with professional wrestling...
Dead Zebra

Enchantment - Aura
Enchant game
Enchanted game has protection from judges' rulings. (Except in extreme circumstances. For example: A player may not physically assault another one. All local laws still apply.)
The art I envisioned would be a player standing over a dead zebra, whilst holding a steel folding chair. (which was presumably used to strike the zebra.)

Nerd

Creature - Human? Wizard
Nerd enters the battlefield (even tough he shouldn’t be on any battlefield) with Y times X IQ counters.
Nerd’s power and toughness is equal to three times the square root of the number of IQ counters on Weird creatures on the battlefield, divided by two and rounded down.

Global Warming

Tribal Enchantment - Human
At the beginning of each upkeep, Global Warming deals X damage to each player, where X is the number of artifacts and Humans on the battlefield.
Be ready to face crisis...
It is all colors because everyone has a contribition on global warming. Its type is Human, because mankind caused it. It deals damage to everyone, because everyone is affected by it. And its destructiveness is equal to the number of people and machine on the Earth...

Congrats to Utheraptor fir winnung the contest. In second place was EyeofTruth.
It was very close, but Uther came in first after I got some others to help decide the fate of these two. Uhter won by one point, but in a way, I would consider this a tie. But no worries, only one winner can be announced. <spoiler>

Ok, new challenge is:
Design a game changing, never-printed before mechanic/ability/keyword, that will affect the game in whole new way, and a couple of cards around it from
to even
.
(So, in fact, you will design four cards and a mechanic/keyword/ability.)
For few examples of mechanics I want, see futureshifted cards from Future Sight like Shah of Naar Isle, Muraganda Petroglyphs or Bonded Fetch
Judging will come on Tuesday 8th in very early morning (around 06:20).
EDIT: Not all the cards in that cycle must have designed ability. They rather should work well with it.
So, the cycle around Muraganda Petroglyphs can be:
Nameless Hunter

Creature - Human Warrior
Nameless Hunter is green.

1/0
.
.
Weakening Ring
Enchantment
Sacrifice Weakening Ring: Target creature lose all abilities. (This effect lasts indefinitely.)

.
.
Muraganda Petroglyphs
Enchantment
Creatures with no abilities get +2/+2

.
.
Ansingular
Legendary Creature - Avatar
Flying, vigilance
Creatures your opponents control lose all abilities and are 2/2 creatures.
6/6
EDIT: Please note that this cycle is just an example. There is no need for it to have a card from Future Sight in it.
Shoot for the Moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars.
