Oh btw Inanimate, the enchantment should be CMC of 2, not 3 like it is now. @Raznaak Yeah, the idea is that it is more powerful when able to actually fight in its preferred terrain, AKA, the snow. I would make it snow covered lands, but that seems too specific and too direct hosing to be a common.

Kudos for being the only one making the aura. Sadly, it is too good for being a common, it should be an uncommon... mean, even if you destroy it, the opponent can bring it back if he has mana to spare, and there is already Curse of Chains and Narcolepsy at the same cost and they do the same thing without the possibility of bringing it back and in monocolored or two colors hybrid, not in snow (basically colorless) and blue hybrid... if the cost was , it would have been perfect though...

Mamekok! The simplicity and the flavour of the card is perfect. Honorable mentions to Inanimate and Sohel, but Mamekok<s card feels right in my set. Can i use your cards a little bit tweaked (mostly the names and a little bit the cost for Inanimate) Mamekok and Inanimate?
Winner, are you there? Because if not, one of the runner up will win in your place tomorrow... [Edit] Sorry Mamekok, but it appears you are or not there or you don't want to make a challenge... So Inanimate, step on and choose a Challenge!
Oh! Wow! Glad to see that runner-up means something, haha!
And I totally didn't notice you asked for permission, sorry! Of course you can use my card.
CHALLENGE TIME!
Alright, for this challenge...
Make a card that is better when played in a unique and/or interesting way. Good examples are the Leylines and Gemstone Caverns, which are clearly much more valuable in your opening hand, Narcomoeba, which is quite cool as a surprise, and Pan-Glacial Wurm, which just goes "hello!" while you look up your basic land late-game!
I'll be judging for:
Balance : Is the card too good, does it under-perform, or is it just right?
Flavor : Does the card's idea mesh with its mechanics?
Originality : How unique is the card? Using an established way of entry (the ones above) does NOT detract from Originality, as long as you provide your own spin.
Theme : How well does it fit the challenge?
Presentation : Wording, grammar, spelling, etc.
Astral Gatewarden

During each of your turns, if Astral Gatewarden is exiled, you may cast one exiled creature card.

EDIT - Kind of my take on Karador, Ghost Chieftain. Originally, it served a broader purpose, but after adding flavor text, I realised there wasn't much I could do but to restrict it to creature cards. Besides, it was probably too strong anyway, even after I raised the casting cost. Oh, it's also an Angel now.

@k1l1 Yeah, a re-entry is fine; but you might get a small deduction in 'originality' for it, since you've, you know, submitted the concept before. Probably nothing too big, though.

It's not as original because it's been done before! That is kind of the definition of 'original'. Usually competitions don't allow submissions that were made before the time provided.

Alright, I'm judging all this as we speak. Any entries posted while I'm typing this all up are still perfectly valid!
Quite the interesting card, here; it essentially 'breaks open' the barriers of what is traditionally treated as, well, “removed from the game”. It'd be interesting to pair it with an Unearth deck, allowing you to keep creatures for a much longer duration than normal. The cost seems fair, since you still have to cast them, and the rarity is quite fitting for its unique effect. The flavor is quite amazing too, as it perfectly fits with the idea of a “gate”! Super nice. It's also cast in a neat way, but is not better when played (as in, put onto the field) in a unique and / or interesting way; it's basically just a response to anything that exiles stuff.
16/25
AgentPaper
While you certainly fit the condition of “better when played in a unique/interesting way”, that regular mana cost is quite... prohibitive! For six mana (four of which is two separate colors!), you can play a 5/5 with intimidate that discards an opponent's hand. However, I think in a deck dedicated to that playstyle, most foes would have run out of cards long ago. Still, it is a pretty powerful effect; I just think the mana cost could perhaps have been toned down a bit. Perhaps would have worked better! The “played when revealed” effect, however, is very good and resonant with the creature's idea. You used a classic horror-monster as well, creating a very powerful and striking card that most people can clearly get the 'idea' of when they see it!
22/25
lord_joakim
While “ripple” isn't exactly the most unique of mechanics, the way you use it is very interesting! Mirroring a very classic card (Relentless Rats) is also a nice plus. Overall, it's pretty basic, but that's never a bad thing; I could see this easily in a set with lots of Ripple, representing the more unique ideas that Ripple hasn't touched yet. Its rarity is nice, too. Overall, a great example of “simple is best”.
21/25
Anuttymous
Our first non-creature, which I was very glad to see. Making a basic cantrip turn into a tutor is an interesting idea; and the off-color flavor cost ensures that it might be a little more difficult to pull out. Further, black is pretty good at getting a card into the grave, ensuring it to be used later; so the cantrip isn't exactly necessary, either. A card that is meant to be played for its flashback is also intriguing; I'd like to see more exploration of that! Its flavor is nice, and a pretty good representation of what it's trying to achieve. Overall, another “good and simple” card for the challenge. However, its rarity might be a little off; Diabolic Tutor is only an uncommon, and while it is certainly an odd card, I could see it as an uncommon.
20/25
Raznaak
While this is a cool idea, I think you tried to put too many good ideas on one card, and it came out looking quite... complicated. It's Chronozoa plus Narcomoeba PLUS Cycling, which is a pretty unwieldy idea! It could easily have been done a bit simpler, as well; while I see where you were going with its intended use (ditch it before it hits your hand, if it hits your hand, cycle it), and it is a great, flavorful idea, it's just too much for one card, and perhaps a bit too derivative (being an extended reference and all), with its unique spin being Cycling.
17/25
Faustenberger
Quite the creature, there! Super flavorful (if you guys haven't noticed, I love flavor), and its intended usage and idea are very apparent. It is definitely better when cast uniquely, and indeed, no creature has ever been cast like this. Its cost is nice too, as it is pretty 'open' while attached to the opponent's creature. Definitely a fantastic submission!
23/25
dartcron
Planeswalker, eh? I've never been too good at judging or critiquing these guys, so I'm sorry if I make any obvious judging mistakes.
While I do like the flavor and idea behind this planeswalker (he joins your creatures in times of need!), and his dramatic entrance is quite fitting for this idea, making him a creature was a bit unnecessary, in my opinion. His +2 has a lot of ideas in it, making it a bit overwhelming to read, too, and there were a few wording errors. Also, his tapping / blocking theme is definitely more blue/white than white/green.
16/25
k1l1
A very fun card! Its ability is pretty darn useful to ensure a pink of damage at least once per game, and it can act as emergency, guaranteed removal; the only major problem I can see with it is that, as an instant, it is strictly better than Shock (although, technically Lightning Bolt is too; so that's not a big deal at ALL), and there are not a lot of red cards that search (most are landcycling or whatever). However, this would be great in an aggro-red/green deck (search for land, instead deal free damage!), alongside including some landcycling, and you have a fantastic deck! Overall, its another “simple but fun” idea, that I really like to see. The flavor of it is okay as well, even if a bit simple. Being a rare fits okay as well, as 'free' damage is pretty powerful!
22/25
EyeofTruth
A card that is forced to be played with Morph; very nice, but perhaps not original enough of a twist on 'Morph'. Using another card to 'force' it onto the battlefield, however, is also a good plan of manipulating it. I like the idea, and could totally see a cycle with these “masks” you mention; and it has a very flavorful effect, as well. The cost might be a little high, but I think in a Morphing-set that it would be worth it; a bunch of colorless 3/3s with Intimidate are a powerful force, indeed! Also, as an aside, that is wonderful flavor text!
22/25
Picks-at-Flies
Fen would be a great commander for a mono-red deck; a very aggro-card indeed. However, he'd also work well with a few other cards, even outside that format; and you certainly fill the requirements of “make it better when played interestingly”. However, I think that including the means to play it that way was implied to be a part of the challenge; that's not too big of a deal, though, and I don't think it factored heavily into the judging, in the end. Maybe a single point.
The main problem I have is that he could be considered a bit simple; it seems the only reason he's legendary is to encourage him to be used as a commander (which is not a bad thing, just an odd thing). Overall, pretty good idea for a character / commander, and you can totally see the 'fury' in him! Just, a little bit of a shoehorn for the challenge. <:
21/25
elmdor
While the name is a bit less than awesome (which is okay), the idea of this is great! A card that encourages the use of 'wish' mechanics is a very nice idea, and I've always found 'wish' mechanics super weird and cool. It has a really powerful ability, but one that requires it to be played in a very specific way; and it seems to work well enough on its own, as well. The rarity is fine for such a card, too. Overall, quite the entry!
22/25
jrzman
While these are interesting limitations, and a neat riff on the idea of 'playing' interestingly (because you can only 'play' one of these in your deck), I feel it misses the point of the challenge a bit. However, being able to boost from exile is also an awesome ability, and white has plenty of ways of ensuring that Aristide will be doing this; and his limitation is a perfect way to balance him. Overall, it is a great card, just a bit off on the whole challenge bit.
20/25
The SCoM
And, last but not least, we got William the Forceful. He's essentially a Mill-in-a-bottle; able to be replicated by exiling other creatures, then himself, then re-casting himself when the time is right. It helps that, when milling, you don't exactly need creatures as much; and he could give that necessary 'final push' to be able to 'force out' your opponent's deck! His costing cast might be a bit prohibitive for exiling himself, which makes his flavor a bit odd, but he's definitely making up for that cost with his cheap replicable mill. Overall, a neat card, but again, not exactly encouraging him to be played 'interestingly'; it mostly encourages you to be exiling other creatures you control, cheaper ones.
21/25
In the end, here is our final line-up:
Fifth
Brain Blast, by k1l1! Like I said, your 'reprint' deduction would come in when you tied, and that you did.
Fourth
Mask of Horror, by Eye of Truth! While a fun and flavorful card, I felt that it wasn't unique enough of a spin, in the end. Still amazing, though!
Third
The Monster in the Mirror, by AgentPaper! Your main downfall was the prohibitive mana cost. Still, you were extremely close to first place, and you made one of the most entertaining and fun ideas in the competition (a personal favorite, in fact). I'd love to see this become realized!
Second
Lost Amulet, by elmdor! A few nitpicks meant you were one point below tying with first, and honestly, I have no clue who would have won if you had gotten first; that would have been a tough decision indeed!
And our winner
Lifedrinker Leech, by Faustenberger! I really loved the idea of how it was cast, and while you had two squabbles, it really deserved the win. Congratulations!

It was simply the fact is scored pretty average on everything. 5 3s is only 15, after all. (The scale was out of 5 for 5 separate factors). I believe you scored quite highly on flavor and such, but I just felt it was a bit sub-par on other things.
However, 16 does seem pretty low... it was a simple miscount, on second thought. I just re-judged it and got about 18-20. Much better score!
jrzman: Yeah, I realized that was the issue. I knew this would be a hard one to explain, and I figured one person would misinterpret it. Sorry that I wasn't perfectly clear. It was still an awesome card, though!

Creature - Angel Spirit
Flying
During each of your turns, if Astral Gatewarden is exiled, you may cast one exiled creature card.
5/5
She guards the gate to Heaven, judging those who would seek to enter. For, in times of need, those beyond the gate must be prepared to offer their aid.

Sewn-Eye, that's okay for the challenge (since it can cast other cards in interesting ways), but the main point was for the submission to be cast in an odd way, not for it to cast other things in an odd way. It might get a little Theme deduction for that.
Still a cool card, though!
It can cast itself.

Oh, thanks for pointing that out. I... completely misread it. >:
Maybe I should stop perusing these forums so late at night...
Monster in the Mirror

Creature - Horror
Intimidate
Whenever ~ is revealed, if it is not in your hand, you may cast it without paying it's mana cost.
When ~ enters the battlefield, target player discards his or her hand.
4/4
Rot of Rats

Creature - Rat
Ripple 6 (When you cast this spell, you may reveal the top six cards of your library. You may cast any revealed cards with the same name as this spell without paying their mana costs. Put the rest on the bottom of your library.)
A deck may have six cards named Rot of Rats.
Deathtouch
1/1
@Inanimate - Haha, it's fine.
@lord_joakim - It says Ripple 6, but you're revealing eight cards. Which is it? XD

Thoughtful Remembrance

Sorcery
Draw a card. If CARDNAME was not cast from your hand, instead search your library for a card and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library.

It's a card i've done looong ago. It may not be "cast" but the idea is the same.
The Game... I lost again...
Working on:
Protaria, community set
Earth's Invasion, my set, need help on some things
Lifedrinker Leech

Creature - Insect
You may cast this card when an opponent puts a creature on the battlefield. If you do, ~ is an aura enchanting that creature with "At the beginning of your upkeep, put a blood counter on ~. If the number of blood counters on ~ is greater than the toughness of enchanted creature, destroy that creature and ~ becomes a creature with power and toughness equal to the number of blood counters on it."

Worded pretty awkwardly, but I think you get the idea.
I reserve the right to make as terrible cards as I like.
Yorin, Guardian

Planeswalker-Yorin
As long as Yorin, Guardian is on the battlefield he is a 3/3 white green human knight creature with Reach. All damage directed towards him while attacking and blocking is prevented. Yorin cannot block creatures that attack him.
Whenever an opponent attacks you with 3 or more creatures you may put Yorin Guardian onto the battlefield without paying his mana cost. If you do those creatures attack Yorin instead.
[+2]: Choose one-- All creatures that were blocked by Yorin become tapped they do not untap during thier controller's next untap step; or Yorin has "Yorin can block any amount of creatures."; or prevent all combat damage that target creature would deal to Yorin during it's controllers next turn.
[-11]: You get an emblem that has "Creatures target player controls do not untap during their untap step"
Starting Loyalty:7
Brain Blast

Instant
If you would search your library for a card, you may instead search your library for ~ and reveal it, then cast it without paying its mana cost. If you do, shuffle your library.
Deal 2 damage to target creature or player.
Are re-entries allowed? If so, this is a card I used a few pages (one) back in TSCoM's challenge.

Veyril - an RTD RPG Adventure - Status Report: Prologue! Round 1 has begun!
I don't think it's a huge issue. I've allowed it before myself, and it's not against the rules. I suppose it's up to each individual judge, though.

Mask of Horror (no casting cost on purpose)

Creature - Spirit
Morph -
CARDNAME is black
Protection from non-artifact creatures
Face down creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain Intimidate.
3/3
All sentient life fears the unknown, only true malice could motivate such sentience to represent it
In case you haven't guessed, this is intended for a set with a lot of Morph, especially considering the original set had more than one of these "masks".
@Sewn-Eye - it's six. It underwent quite a few edits.
And I have edited it again to fit.
Fen the Furious -

and he gains haste until end of turn.
Legendary Creature - Goblin Warrior
First Strike
Echo
When Fen enters the battlefield, if you did not cast him from your hand, his Echo cost becomes
Fen blamed the Gods.
4/2
This is a format-specific entry. I'll admit, I'm not 100% sure on the wording or the balance but it feels about right.

@k1l1 Yeah, a re-entry is fine; but you might get a small deduction in 'originality' for it, since you've, you know, submitted the concept before. Probably nothing too big, though.
I think I'll judge this Friday, the 10th; that sound good for everyone?
Lost Amulet

: Add
to your mana pool.
,
: Target permanent gains protection from everything until end of turn. Activate this ability only if there is a luck counter on -this-.
Legendary Artifact
If you would put -this- in any game zone from outside the game, you may instead put it onto the battlefield with a luck counter on it.

Aristide the Exiled

Legendary Creature - Human Advisor
You can only play one copy of Aristide the Exiled in your deck.
As long as Aristide the Exiled is exiled face up, creatures you control get +2/+2.
2/2
I don't remember if I put this in another challenge or in something like the Creature Type Game. Either way, I like the uniqueness that this provides.

@Inanimate: I don't see how a re-entry would be less original than when I first entered it. It's exactly the same as when I entered it the first time and just as original.

Secret Project Beta - Status Report: Blank slate! Still working on the base set.

It's not as original because it's been done before! That is kind of the definition of 'original'. Usually competitions don't allow submissions that were made before the time provided.
Don't worry your head off about the originality clause, though; it'll only be used as a tie-breaker.
Alright. That seems fair.

. And of course that you can use my card.

Alright, I'm judging all this as we speak. Any entries posted while I'm typing this all up are still perfectly valid!
In the end, here is our final line-up:
Wow, I never expected to win one of these. Now to come up with a challenge...
I reserve the right to make as terrible cards as I like.
Actually Inanimate, it wasn't so much as me missing the point of the challenge, I misinterpreted the nature of it. Either way, congrats Faustenberger. I look forward to the next challenge.

I'm just curious, but... you didn't seem to have anything bad to say about my submission, so why was it rated so low?
Anyway, conratz to Faustenberger.

Just so you know, I personally really liked your card.
Haha, all right. Thanks. An 18 or 20 is more what I expected from the critique you offered.
