Do you just get any (up to 7) cards that you want for your hand? Im am extremely confused.

Basically, this contest has two parts.

1. The jeopardy card creation contest part. Hopefully it will become part of a set.
2. A way to spend the mana that is given away as prizes. Basically as bragging rights.

Yes, you get any cards you need to "combo off", up to seven. These cards should be "officially published cards," not the cards we are creating.

Is there any interest in me actually posting this contest? I had expected posts to show up.

If there is no real interest, I will humbly take this concept elsewhere.

I guess silence will be an answer, as well. But I'd like to know.

I'm confused about what the hell this game is about... just reading through the rules from top to bottom makes no sense to me...

The premises of the game:

Part 1 (the important part): A "jeopardy" style card creation contest. But... do they have the TV game show Jeopardy on your side of the pond? Basically, a challenge is posted and anyone can enter a card that meets that challenge. There are categories and mana values, in keeping with the original game show. Whoever wins the challenge picks the next category.

Part 2 (the unimportant part): I muddied the water with a completely pointless way to spend the mana. Perhaps to avoid confusion I will simply remove that 'reward system.' I'll consider that, and any opinions people would have as well.

Part 3 (the long term, worry about it later, part): And ultimately I would like to feed all card submissions into a potential set... likely an Un-set.

Sad thing is, I just about explained it in three paragraphs, without any spoilers.

I think we used to have a game show called Jeopardy over here... in like the 70s or 80s...

I guess this contest only makes sense if you know the gameshow.

Its really simple; six "categories" that questions come from. Five questions from each category. The player to correctly answer each question chooses the next question, except they don't know the question. All you see columns of categories with different question boxes under them; the boxes are labeled with different point values, so that each row has the same point values.

The complicated part is that the "question" is actually an answer. You read an answer; a statement. And you answer in the form of a question with something like "Who is _____?" or "What is ______?"

That's about it. Most points is the winner.

Here in the states, Jeopardy! has been airing just before primetime television since 1964, although there may have been a year or two off; I'm not clear on that.

Ah. Here in the UK, that slot is filled by Countdown and The Weakest Link (...)

I have seriously modified the opening post. I got rid of the extra stuff that wasn't really needed. However, this may render some of the previous discussion confusing.

I will keep the opening post updated as the contest progresses, but will also post the latest winner in a regular post. Unless a moderator says that this violates a forum rule.

Also note that the timing/deadlines have changed to allow me some leeway.

Actually, you did it right. Ian needed to post a blue creature with no abilities, and his choice of category in case his card was chosen as the best posted.

This game is not progressive, like the challenge game. Instead it is a judged contest with part of the prize being selection of the next topic.

Thanks Vinyacoire - I added it because I felt the card was lacking something and it somehow felt -right-.

Anyway, my real reason for posting is to clarify that neither of my cards has a printed casting cost, because I don't think it's clear the way it came out.

Normally I don't plan on commenting on the cards, but since this round features a Mythic Rare, here we go:

Cizzle: Whitest Knight / Blackest Knight: Very well balanced. But very little flavor reason for a white knight and a black knight to tutor for each other, especially since they sac...

Vinyacoire: Master Oogway / Po - See, I have kids. So I have seen Kung-Fu Panda. These cards work good together, and they don't seem forced into the category, and Po is a good translation of the character. A bit powerful, but not overly so...

Picks-at-Flies: The chicken and the Egg... hmm... There are no casting costs. And I can't tell which one comes into play first. I know you mention these issues in a future post... But a good idea. And deathtouch on a 0/3 is funny enough, but deathtouch on an egg?! ...

Guitar: Wow. The big sister/ little sister concept is really good. But there is just way too much going on here. I could see these if they were legendary, but as written they are broken. Little sister could pump out a big brother on each player's turn until the deck ran out of them...

Fafnir: Banjo and Kazooie? I can't say I've ever heard of them. But a flying bear. Sounds like something you don't ever want to have pointed at you.

Cool. I will say that I knew Vinyacoire's card would be tough to beat which is why mine was soooo quirky. Well deserved win.

As for the catagory, I apologize. Actual Jeopordy has 5 levels of question difficulty; I just assumed.

The mythic rare is a prize that only applies in the Mini-Planes set, in the Make-a-Set forums; each team works on a plane in that set, kinda like the shards in Alara (though they've still got all five colors in them). When someone wins one of these mythic rare prizes, they are allowed to contribute a mythic rare to the set.

Aurora is right. The thing is, Darkmouse mentioned you joining the project and keeping your Mythic, but I don't think that's fair. In that case, you could sweep in, make a mythic, and be gone. Or you might have people fighting to have you on their team. All in all, I don't think its a good idea.

This is another rough week. If I wasn't awarding a Mythic, it would have been a tie and I would have opened up two challenges.
guitarweeps and innuendo both capture the spirit of the challenge. And both made me laugh.
Guitar wins by the slimmest of margins.

Well thank you! To be honest I thought that I had pretty good chances...until I saw Innuendo's card. That was really good! (And on another note, as a redirection effect I don't think that you would have to apologize for both).
Looks like I'll have to do some research for the next one. Unfortunatly, I never saw that one.

EDIT: Okay. I am going to give this one a try. This is a throwback to an old card.
