@Inverness, @huw: It's worse than that. There's nothing stopping a player from casting this with X=0, so it'll never be sacrificed. Either explicitly state "X can't be 0.", or add "~'s power and toughness are each equal to the number of time counters on ~.", or, better yet, mebbe go back to the drawing board, as thehuw is pretty accurate in his assessment.

@sdfkjgh: If cast for X=0, then it'll still enter the battlefield with a counter and be sacrificed at the beginning of the next turn's upkeep.

As Photobucket wants me to pay 400$/year to link to my images, I'll relocate all renders.

@sdfkjgh: Untrue. Since it's X+1, there's always going to be at least one counter on it (unless you also have Solemnity, in which case it's a hard-lock and basically unbeatable).

@Gito - Would work much better as "Players can't cast noncreature spells" IMHO, which would align with Silence-type effects and Green mana symbol's natural hate for Blue trying to interject a countnerspell into everything while at the same time limiting the majority of Green/wite mana symbol enchantment options.

@zephyr: I think even that is going a bit too far. Personally, I'd add a tax to noncreature spells equal to the amount of time counters on Gito. For example, three time counters means noncreature spells cost 3 mana symbol more to cast. Next turn, they'll cost 2 mana symbol more, and so on.

Hmm, I had considered X mana symbolX mana symbolGreen mana symbolWhite mana symbol for the cost instead of just the one X mana symbol. Would that help at all? As I see it, the card is basically a tempo play if you don't put any mana into X mana symbol. It comes in, stops your opponent from casting for a turn, can block a small creature, then dies on your upkeep. Having it be able to stick around longer is definitely a big upside, so I think limiting that upside should hopefully help?

I think the problem is that the current version is Silence for multiple turns if pumped enough (even with a double-X cost), and as a result would warp the format it's in due to you essentially talking multiple extra turns. I agree with Asthanius that taxing is a more fitting solution because it would still be restrictive but it would give colors that aren't Blue mana symbol a chance to respond to it even if it's on the battlefield.
