@gweeps: this is my first attempt at a set telling the story through the cards themselves, a la Herzi - the collection of stories may be something you don't have to wait too long for, though, if my schedule holds...

Both fixed! The Lark issue stems from a time where he gained 2 life and drew two cards, which I determined to be a bit too good. The Delia one is just a goof.

The "wings but can't fly" thing may be addressed sooner rather than later...

Is Sanctum Compass supposed to allow every color to ramp?

Other than that, seems interesting so far.

Every color can ramp a bit already with mana rocks, so I think Compass is perfectly fine. I really like A Whole New World, by the way - prime brewing fodder there.

I dunno how I feel about Compass, tbh, since it's 2 mana symbol split up over 2 turns versus something like Rampant Growth, which costs 1 mana symbolGreen mana symbol and must be paid for in one turn. Maybe if the activated cost 1 mana symbol more?

Cards look neat, though.

I guess the thing with Compass is that the restriction on what lands you can choose stops you from fixing colors with it, which is a big part of Rampant Growth's utility. Maybe it could use costing one extra mana on one axis or the other, though.

Perhaps the compass should just put the land in your hand instead? Still lets you hunt down lands but not nearly as efficiently.

You could probably extend it to any basic, in that case, otherwise it's really bad compared to, say, Expedition Map (or, from a different angle, Lay of the Land).

I do like the ramp, I'm just annoyed that Wayfarer's Bauble exists...


Edit: Think I got it. How about:

- 2 mana symbol to cast
- 0 mana symbol, Tap symbol: to activate
- Enters the battlefield tapped

This way, it's still two-mana restrictive ramp, but it doesn't ramp you from two to four, which is the big issue with 2-mana rocks in limited.

Well concoct is an interesting take on an elixir. I like it. Do all of them do nothing without ingredients? While that is true to theme it could get old mechanically to have a mechanic of cards that do nothing without support.

I... I started this half a year ago. And have spoiled about eight cards. Whoops.

I'm revamping the mechanics in this set - I never liked them in the first place. We should have something new to look at this evening! A happy smile

Don't know whether you still work on this set, but I think the Concoct mechanic looks pretty cool. But maybe you could make them do something even without ingredients, and with them they become better. So that you can at least do something with them if your graveyard is empty.

Do you wonder whether your set's mechanics really pull their weight?
