Mersalen Task 19a: White Spells

This task will be to finish up the white common and uncommons. This will include all the non-creatures. We will focus solely on the commons and uncommons in White mana symbol, White/blue mana symbol, and White/black mana symbol. The following shows the current skeleton although this is not in stone so feel free to deviate if you have a design to show. Note the archtypes that are in white are White/blue mana symbol tempo, White/black mana symbol tokens/spirits, Red/white mana symbol vehicles, Green/wite mana symbol toughness 4+ matters.

We are not doing creatures right now actually...you can do emerge or vehicles however. Supply ship is kinda cool.

Whale Spout White mana symbol
Sorcery Common
Emerge 7 mana symbolWhite mana symbol
You gain 4 life. If ~ was emerged, create a 4/4 white Whale creature token.
The water exuded from the aetherwhale's blowhole is infused with aether and can actually be used for healing wounds.

Trade Tax 2 mana symbolWhite mana symbol
Enchantment Uncommon
Creatures can't attack you or permanents you control unless their controller pays 2 mana symbol for each creature he or she controls that's attacking you.

Actually thinking maybe this effect should be at rare

Wavecrash 1 mana symbolWhite mana symbol
Instant Common
~ deals 3 damage to target attacking creature.
Tide - If the number of lands is odd destroy that creature.
Merfolk can use the waveshaping to stave off their foes in order to assist the aetherwhales they swear to protect.

Shell's Blessing White mana symbol
Instant Common
Target creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn.
Tide - If the number of lands is odd, that creature gains indestructible until end of turn.

Carried in the Wind 1 mana symbolWhite/blue mana symbol
Enchantment Common
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature gets +1/+1 and has flying.

What about a reprint of Unmake? Or we could do something like this:

Exile target permanent.

Tap target creature. It doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step. If ~ was emerged, instead tap all creatures target player controls. They don't untap during their controller's next untap step.

Welcome back then! Emerge cards should show the creature that emerged so it should make a token or something that represents the emerging creature.

Thanks, GW! Hopefully have some spare times for contributing. RL is kinda busy recently.

I see, so that's why the emerge cards create tokens, then I realized my card fills similar role with Ice Grip, make this redundant.

By the way, what's the flavor behind the emerge in Ice Grip? The ice drowning the emerge creatures and the targets?

Now, some comments on the cards:

-Dread Spirits: Since Beckon Apparition exiles any card from any graveyard and an instant, I think it's safe to make it like this:

As an additional cost to cast ~, exile target creature card from a graveyard.
Create two 1/1 white and black Spirit creature tokens with flying.

A bit restriction on targeting, but it feels more flavorful.

-"Supply Ship": Cool! I like it

-Whale Spout: I think it's nice. Not a dead card on later game.

-Trade Tax: A strictly better Ghostly Prison. While this is okay, maybe we could add gleam? Though most likely this doesn't fit the trade tax flavor.

Enchantment Rare
Gleam — Creatures can't attack you or a planeswalker you control unless their controller pays X mana symbol for each of those creatures, where X is the number of colors among permanents you control.

-Wavecrash: For a reactive card like this, the Tide mode could be problematic since we need to hold off until the lands are odd and the opponent could play around it. Otherwise, I think this should target blocking creatures too, though maybe the flavor text needs a bit rework.

-Shell's Blessing: Nice effect on a common.

-Carried in the Wind: Solid card

-Unmake Reality: Based on Scour from Existence, this could be an instant. Maybe also for 5 mana.

For a long voyage, maybe this could do:

Treasury Voyage 2 mana symbolWhite/blue mana symbol
Instant Common
Exile target creature or Vehicle you control. At the beginning of the next end step, return that card to the battlefield under its owner's control.
Draw a card.

And more submissions:

Enchantment - Aura Common
Enchant creature you control.
When ~ enters the battlefield, create a 1/1 white and black Spirit creature token with flying.
Enchanted creature gets +2/+2 and has lifelink.

Return target spell to its owner's hand unless its controller pays 2 mana symbol.
Draw a card.

Dread Spirits - I like using the instant version that can target any grave for incidental grave hate. I kinda like just using Beckon Apparition though. Reprints are always nice to slot when possible.
Supply Ship - Maybe instead it gains like for each crewed creature to be closer to the overall vehicle theme.
Ice Grip - Honestly this will probably need a complete rework as it doesn't really do what we are trying to do with emerge overall.
Trade Tax - I like that with gleam and yes it would need new flavor.
Treasure Voyage - Cool idea, link the card draw to the return of the permanent.
Soul Collecting - Maybe it can give +1/+1 for each spirit you control?
Goods Taxation - Acceptable bleed? Maybe.

Beckon Apparition is a nice reprint.
Supply Ship - Just for clarification, do you mean something along "Whenever ~ attacks or blocks, you gain life equal to the number of creatures crewed it this turn."? If yes, I agree with you.
Ice Grip - I see.
Soul Collecting - That's better! Rewards Spirit decks without being a parasitic card.
Unmake Reality - Is it still the original version? Because I think that could be a common.

Supply Ship - Yes that is what I mean.
Unmake Reality - Yes, it could really be either way depending on how you want it to show in limited. Personally I think that catch all answers like this at common seems strange. I prefer it at uncommon but development can move it if needed for the limited removal environment.

Enchanted permanent's activated abilities can't be activated. If enchanted permanent is a creature, it can't attack or block.
At the beginning of your upkeep, you may attach ~ to target artifact or creature.

Revive the Meek 2 mana symbolWhite/black mana symbol
Sorcery Common
Return target creature card with CMC 2 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield. That creature is a white an black Spirit in addition to its other colors and types.
Guess I'm still alive...

White has cards like Timely Hordemate and black has Unearth (which maybe too good for current power level at common,) so I think it's acceptable. The last line could be removed if it's too complicated for a common.

Immobilize is pretty much close to Aether Anchor but I like the idea of moving it so maybe we will meld them. Revive the Meek seems cool too but could certainly cost less.

I didn't see Aether Anchor in set file, so I thought the effect wasn't exist.

Revive the Meek was intentionally overcosted because I'm not sure how much is appropriate. I thought to add cantrip at current cost or reduce it to two even one mana.
