Sorry about recently kinda falling off and not keeping up. Been a lot going on lately. Our last task inspired exactly zero designs. As we have gotten through a large majority of the lower rarities I think it would be good to regroup and discuss a few things that are working or not working that you see. Feel free to bring anything up to discuss whether good or bad and then we will jump back into designing cards. Also you can submit designs that you are inspired about during discussion or brainstorming.

A few notes to drive some specific discussions:

-I feel like we are still focusing a bit too much on the surface of the water and not enough below. I am not really sure how to fix that honestly though.
-I have really liked aetherborn even though they were kinda both sides of the fence. I think they fit quite well into the setting.
-As must as I love the frogs I feel that we are not executing them well. I think we either need to flesh them out more or cut them. If cut Black/green mana symbol can just become emerge support.
-Homarids I think are a great add but currently don't really add anything. If we scrap frogs I think they could go Black/green mana symbol as suggested by jacqui awhile back.
-I am happy so far how tide turned out. I think going simple works well with this
-Emerge feels really cool how we did it
-Ransack feels like it could be pretty potent although I like it a lot. When I played with Gonti they were really good. But until EOT is much different.
-Gleam I think could use some more streamlining but overall a good push to multicolor.
-So far I think all our mechanics are filling in the set well. I do wonder if another one would be good to have. Something like explore or survey.

I think we have enough mechanics, especially since WotC is trying to reduce the number of mechanics that goes in any set.
I don't understand why we would cut frogs. If we did, we'd have to reflavour Homarids and Homarid cards completely. I feel like it's not worth it. Also, about Homarids: you have the White mana symbol 1/4 defender Homarid credited as being designed by fluffy, but I was the one that designed it. Also I had made it a common but you said you'd move it at uncommon but it's still at common now.

Mechanics are enough. I do think Tide, while simple, is at the same time a little difficult to keep up with. Were i in development i would probably try to peel back tide at lower rarities if I could.

Also ask the guy who developed that cotw if we can use that octopus in our set. It's literally perfect haha.

It feels like a pretty basic world at this point. We could use some top down and story based designs at this point to help with worldbuilding.

Seems like overall we like the direction most of it is going. I get that it is lacking in some creative direction. Our creative team kinda fizzled out a bit. That also happened with Ashura though and it turned out pretty good lol.

I could see maybe trying to keep tide at common as ETB triggers or EOT triggers or something to decrease complexity.

@Frogs - Well we are pretty much done with non-rare creatures and we only have 3 frogs so they aren't really adding much I guess is what I mean. The homarids could be re-envisioned as scavengers who can repurpose the fallen which would help move towards emerge support and Black/green mana symbol. MOst of the current homarid cards would make just as much sense or more as merfolk.
