Coloring self-made Set Symbols.Yeah... I downloaded the program a few days ago, and I got a bit bored of the plain square. I made my own symbol, but it only saves in black and white. How would I go about making the Uncommon and Rare versions? Also, please let me know if this is in the wrong forum area... Currently working on: The Final Fantasy VII Set. You know what? I'm a girl. I AM OF THE FEMALE GENDER. I have given up on correcting people about this! That is why it is in the signature. |

If you click the symbol onIf you click the symbol on the card, you can change the rarity. If you want to save it as an image, I don't think you can, because MSE's internal representation is in the form of black and white. If you want though, I could make a style that only has a really big symbol - that way, you can export it. |

I know how to click it andI know how to click it and change the rarity, but there's no way to make the gold and silver versions so that they can be used when I click the uncommon and rare boxes. I'm sorry, but I don'tI'm sorry, but I don't understand. Are you wanting to change the color of the Uncommon and Rare symbols from Silver and Gold to another color? Or are you just trying to make your U and R symbols pop up correctly, in Silver and Gold? |

Oh, I think IOh, I think I understand... Richie, when you change your symbol, MSE automatically recolors it for rare and uncommon symbols. You don't have to edit those separately. |

I'm trying to get them toI'm trying to get them to pop up in the CORRECT colors, not re-color them. Sorry if that was a bit unclear. Currently working on: The Final Fantasy VII Set. You know what? Actually, there is a way toActually, there is a way to change the colors. Look up your 'game' file for MAgic, usually C:\Program Files\Magic Set Editor 2\data\magic.mse-game\game, edit it with Notepad or similar program and look for the following section: symbol: max aspect ratio: 2.5 variation: name: common border radius: 0.10 fill type: solid fill color: rgb(0,0,0) border color: rgb(255,255,255) variation: name: uncommon border radius: 0.05 fill type: linear gradient fill color 1: rgb(224,224,224) fill color 2: rgb(84, 84, 84) border color 1: rgb(0, 0, 0) border color 2: rgb(0, 0, 0) variation: name: rare border radius: 0.05 fill type: linear gradient fill color 1: rgb(214,196,94) fill color 2: rgb(95, 84, 40) border color 1: rgb(0, 0, 0) border color 2: rgb(0, 0, 0) variation: name: special border radius: 0.10 fill type: linear gradient fill color 1: rgb(224,170,247) fill color 2: rgb(58,7,80) border color 1: rgb(255,255,255) border color 2: rgb(255,255,255)Then just fool around with the RGB values till you get the desired effect. Hope that helps. |

At the moment, my symbolAt the moment, my symbol that I made with the program only has two colors. Basic Land and Common are white, Uncommon and Rare are black and Special is white. I want my Basic Land white, my Common black, my Uncommon silver and my Rare gold. Special can stay white because I don't use it to begin with. Currently working on: The Final Fantasy VII Set. Border SauceMy guess is you've made the symbol using 'border' shapes. Changing it to 'overlap' should fix it if that's the case. You'll have to go into the text file mentioned above if you want to change the basic land to white; by default it's exactly the same as common. Yes, I think monkeychewtoyYes, I think monkeychewtoy is correct. His error seems to be that he's made his symbol using only the border tool; but that's now how Magic symbols are made, so that's not how the symbol editor works. If he switches those pieces from "border" to something else, it should automatically include the colors (in all but one template). The one template this won't work with is Playtest template. That template doesn't display symbols; it actually takes advantage of what is usually an error, and uses it to display the rarities as text instead of images. Finally, there is already a symbol display template, constructed by me because some individuals want high-res versions of their symbol. It can be found here. It only displays the symbol, and it shows it very large. It allows for any of the representations of the symbol (basic land, uncommon, rare, special, old uncommon, and old rare), and it allows you to change the color of the background. Despite the attached images on that page, the images it makes are very crisp. Those images look bad because they were shrunk to meet the old attachment restrictions for the file library. Yeah, that worked. But nowYeah, that worked. But now my border is too big and it makes my symbol look like a bunch of random shapes. Oh well... At least the random shapes generally look like what they're supposed to look like. ... And for further reference? I'm a girl. Currently working on: The Final Fantasy VII Set. You know what? Hehe, I guess it must beHehe, I guess it must be quite annoying, the internet tendency to assume people with gender-ambiguous titles are male. As for symbol design, all it takes is practice to get fairly groovy looking symbols. The border mode is actually used fairly infrequently - I must say that I use Merge and Overlay the most. Well, Lordpenguin is right.Well, Lordpenguin is right. It will just require some playing around to make better symbols. As for the gender mistake, indeed, your title is ambiguous. What's more, you shouldn't be offended; rather than saying "he or she" is it common practice to say "he" when gender is unknown. Else, I would have to ask every person's gender before replying to them. That is simply not acceptable, and I'm sure you wouldn't like to have to ask gender before posting either. ZOMG?A girl? On the internet? Heh. Sorry. When you switch from 'border' to 'overlap,' you'll have to go through and carefully shrink each shape to match its original size. It's a pain, but that's how it's done. I'd probably duplicate the border shapes first, so you don't have to do as much guesswork when resizing the overlap ones. Good luck, Lieutenant. Neh, it's fine. I actuallyNeh, it's fine. I actually get that response a lot. As for the symbol, I fixed it. I looks a bit odd now, but as soon as I somehow manage to get back to my other computer I'll figure out a way to show y'all. Making set symbols is a bit easier now that I know how to do it correctly.
