Keyword Update
Current Version: Ixalan
Get the file here!

To install the update, copy this file into the following directory: Magic Set Editor 2 / data / magic.mse-game. This should overwrite the existing keywords file. Ensure that your browser does not automatically save the file as a .txt - it should have no extension at all.

I saved it to mse-game, it didn't override anything, I don't have the new keywords. I think it's because it saved in the form of a text document for some reason?

Hrm. Try deleting the file extension? keywords is a typeless file by default, so that may be it.

Keywords from Conspiracy: Take the Crown could also be added:

Keyword Update: Kaladesh B

  • Added council's dilemma, double agenda, goad and melee from Conspiracy 2: Take the Crown.
  • Changed reminder text of madness to the newest version from Shadows Over Innistrad.
  • Fixed capitalization on a few action keywords.

Install instructions are the same as last time. Make sure your browser doesn't automatically save the file as a .txt!

Worked like a charm even though my browser insisted I should download it as a .txt file (I just opened the keyword file on Notepad and c/p'd the changes onto it). Thanks!

But is Council's dilemma working for you? For me, it's not. And I think is because of the apostrophe. Is there a way to deal with apostrophes on keywords?

@ABELZUMI: Did you remove the .txt extension? That's the main thing I can think of. Also, if you have MSE windows open as you make the switch, you'll need to close them and start a new instance of the program. (Also, hi! Big fan of yours on Tumblr.)

Do you know how I can make my computer not download it as txt automatically? Even if I try to make the type "all files" in the dropdown, it still saves as a text file and I can't get it to work in the data folder.

You should just be able to delete the .txt from the file extension

Can't. Filename has no extension when I download it, it's just "keywords". It still comes out as a text file that doesn't overwrite anything in the mse-game folder.

True, you can't remove the extension of a file in windows without editing it and saving it as a extensionless file. Changing extension is easy this way, but not removing one.
What you could do is take an already existing extensionless file, rename it to have the right name, and then replace the old content with the content of the file you want...

I think the problem here is with Mediafire. It swears up and down that it's a text file (which, in a sense, it is), and forces the associated metabaggage whether we want it or not. Best advice: put it in a zip file and upload it that way. MF doesn't look inside zip files.

I actually opened the old keywords file and copied the contents of the new one into it, so that worked.

I found an issue with the Keywords. Totem Armor should read "If enchanted permanent would be destroyed, instead remove all damage marked on it and destroy this Aura." Not enchanted creature. It can be used on non creature auras.

Oh, source is 792.88a: 702.88a. Totem armor is a static ability that appears on some Auras. "Totem armor" means "If enchanted permanent would be destroyed, instead remove all damage marked on it and destroy this Aura."

The reminder text that appears in the keywords file is as it appears on the cards. While totem armor can technically apply to all permanents, all current canonical examples can only enchant creatures.

I'm not sure if it's possible to make the reminder text adapt based on what an Aura can and can't enchant; I'll look into it for the next update. In the meantime, I'm content to leave it as-is. (I can't see many mechanical applications for totem armor on noncreature Auras, anyway.)

An example from my own fairly dead-ish set/block/whatever:
This permanent comes into play with X {if contains(card.type,match:"Creature") then "+1/+1" else "charge"} counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a counter from it.

That works if the reminder text is based on the type of the card the mechanic is on, but the reactive reminder text for totem armor would be based on the presence or absence of a particular keyword (enchant creature). There's probably still a way to do it, I'll figure something out.

If enchanted {if contains(card.text, match:"Enchant <param-name>creature</param-name>") then "creature" else "permanent"}
still has edge cases like 'Enchant artifact creature' but you can always make your own reminder.

zip that updates this, fixes Monstrosity as an action, mostly fixes Typecycling (you'll still have to make your own reminder for "Human Wizardcycling", sorry), and adds in some supplement pseudos which were missing.

Only auras can enchant, and auras must enchant. If totem armor will never be on an aura that doesn't enchant a creature, you can still use the situation from my example.

It means you have to look for "Enchant creature" in the textbox and not "Aura" on the typeline, which is messier because "Enchant artifact creature" is valid but "Tap enchanted land: Target creature <whatever>" isn't and "Enchant creature or planeswalker" isn't either unless it has "Enchanted planeswalker is a creature"

"Enchant creature" solves most cases but there are more variables at play.

I think you missed what I said: only Auras can enchant. There will never be a non-Aura card with enchant (anything). And I seriously doubt that an Aura with totem armor will ever NOT have enchant creature. ("Or planeswalker" is in addition.)

You can check for "Aura" because the non-results are already eliminated by game rules and logic.

@Sensei Le Roof: Yeah I also doubt that an aura with Totem armor that isn't a creature aura will be printed. But this program is meant to create custom cards (a friendly reminder if you didn't already know it).and there will surely be someone who will want to create a cycle of Auras with totem armor.

I just dont understand why people pay thousands for a piece of cardboard.
Why just don't play some casual? Gee, it isn't even fun to play with, and especially against.
