First off, I'm not sure if this is the right thread, bit it'll help people making sets, so I put it here.

Second off, always give the artist credit. If you can't find the artist (don't forget to look at the art for a signature) at least put the website it's from.

Third off, I hope this helps people in making their cards. Onto the list, feel free to add, I'll update this first post with everyone else's sites just to keep them all in one place for us.

Search Engines

http://images.google.com/imghp?tab=wi- Good old Google image search, gets anything you need almost instantly

http://www.epilogue.net/index.php - Has almost any kind of art you can think of, fantasy, sci-fi, anime and sculptures are the main ones though. You can find almost anything here.

Landscapes

http://www.Digitalblasphemy.com- Using the free gallery you can get some good scenery for lands, and I expect the members gallery to be amazing. All art is done by Ryan Bliss, and there is a user gallery with links to individual artist sites.

http://www.scorpyan.at- German, kind of hard to look around but has some cool futuristic art

http://www.begann.de- MANY MANY MANY LANDSCAPES!!! if you can't find pictures for land here, then I feel bad for you. Also in a foreign language though, so click the links on the side till you find the art.

http://nielsen.sp01.ab-webspace.de/gallery/ - That link exactly has a good amount of landscape a scenery artwork.

Creatures

http://www.thinktankstudios.com/creatures.html - Creatures. Thanks strokes!

Fantasy Art

http://fantasygallery.net- Many artists we know and love plus some we don't, this site has alot of fantasy art on it.

http://www.elfwood.com/ - Has alot of fantasy art on it, portraying a more innocent look to cards in my opinion.

http://www.deviantart.com/ - has 44,302,122 pieces of artwork and growing, and I've heard some good things about this and Liked what I saw

http://www.artpromote.com/fantasy.shtml - 19 different categories of fantasy art to choose from, has some good stuff

http://www.tolkienion.com/index2.php - Click images on the left to find the artists (images), should be 6 of them. Pretty good ones here

http://santharia.com/startup_new/mainframe.htm - I love this sight, click on the little icons under the sight logo (top left corner) to select your category, click for another subcategory (a purple name below those icons) then click on any of the red subtitles to select further info on that subject. I like this because not only does it supply art for most of it's subjects, it also gives storylines which can then be tweaked for our own personal use and card ideas. 5 out of 5 for sure.

http://www.nicolecadet.com/ - Hand draw images, theres a small amount of fantasy artwork here over 7 galleries.

http://www.pen-paper.net/artgallery/main.php - 14 pages of different artists names and galleries, each page has 8 or so artists. Recommended. Thanks Lordpenguin!

http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47763 - Click on a thumbnail near the top to get to the art.

Forums With Artwork

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/photoshareartifact/ - Photoshare artifact, it's a yahoo group. members share artowrk and links, and I expect them to have forums like this one

http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=38442 - Lots of really good art, but no search, so it's kind of hard to find what you want. Recommended though if your just making your cards off of images.

Anime Art

http://www.advancedanime.com/galleries.php - I havn't looked at this, but my buddy Brian says he likes this sight. At a glance though, ti looks like it doesn't realy have much battle-like anime

Photo Art

http://www.photopix.de/index/weblog/ - I saw this one on another topic, so I jut threw it in here.

http://www.flickr.com/ - (use the advanced search to restrict to free images). No artwork here, all photos and photshopped images I think, correct me if I'm wrong.

http://www.everystockphoto.com/index.php - Artistic photographs here.

http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Content_Curators - Also found in the same topic as the above 3, I can't navigate this one.

Realistic Art

http://www.battleart.com/douglasGpaintings.html - About 10 medieval theme painting here, click on the image to make them bigger vefore you save them.

http://www.animalart.com/html/m1.htm - Just some animals, Pretty good if your just making basic creatures (like literally, basic).

Clip Art

http://www.openclipart.org/ - A gallery for ,you guessed it, Clip Art. Images might be expanded when putting onto your cards.

Digital Artwork

http://www.3dtrue.com/gallery/index.html - Digital Imagaes here (computer rendered). Pretty cool abstracts also.

http://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Index.cfm/FuseAction/ProcessSearch/istSearchKey/monsters - I honestly don't know whats on here, and I'm not gonna look. They seem weird....

http://www.hectik.com/art/digital-art.htm - Abstract art. Digital. 12 categories, Some adult images. Kinda weird lookin stuff. Not recommended, but I'll put it up though

Dark Art

http://www.darklinks.com/darkart.html - I am afraid to look here. Check it out for yourselves.

http://art.sinistervisions.com/ - Has a halloweeny look to it.

http://www.mistybenson.com/DarkSistersSkeletonPuppetsGalery.html - Hand drawn skeletons, not very good unless your into this kind of art.

Established Artists

http://tnielsen.com/ - Terese Nielsen, along with Matt Cavotta, rk post, and others. Thanks Monkeychewtoy!

http://www.danscottart.com/Magic.html - Dan Scott. Thanks Monkeychewtoy!

http://www.ralphhorsley.co.uk/ - Ralph Horsley, who also has a DeviantArt account with his Lorwyn work. Thanks Monkeychewtoy!

I hope this helps you all in your set making!!!

http://www.mediafire.com/?3xnzbdhmmgy - Doomsday, my first set made when I was like.. 15... muahahaha. In the process of being redone.

it really depends what you need it for I found a lot of good elf pictures on deviant art

riodelapanlima's picture

Deviantart has a lot of elf pictures. Yes I agree.

But actually they have a very small 'green' elf to fit to the theme of MTG. You know, forest in the background, wearing green clothes, slinging bow or wielding a sword.

But no, they have those blasted blood elf and drow. Visually, they look more like a red or black creatures instead of a green one.

Hmm, well I'm not only interested in elf, I'm interested in any badass creature in forest enviroment or defending their forest home (instead of destroying it).

Elfwood is alright, but you tend to get a lot of amateurs - the general skill level tends to be less than on deviantart.

provide it in the artist name slot when you make your cards.
Give credit where credit is due, will you?

Many thanks Pichoro for stickying this thread, I was not expecting that.

Yes, and everybody do remember, artist credit is very important. I find a good way to ensure the artist name (and I still am learning my way into this habit) is to save the picture in a folder (or whatever you save it) and save it as CARDNAME- artists name. That way you can find it easier for your card when you open up to put the image on and you'll have the artist right there to put on

http://www.mistybenson.com/DarkSistersSkeletonPuppetsGalery.html - Has some cartoony, hand drawn artwork. Go here as a last resort (unless your into that kind of art, I personally am not).

Also, try Epilogue, artpromote, deviantart, and fantasy art gallery. They are all up there in that mess of links that I should organize....

Anyways, elt me know if this helps, if you need some more I can find some.

With all the cards i've made using MSE, i've not yet found a single card concept that deviantART couldn't provide a suitable picture for, but sometimes you have to be cunning about what you put in to search for Stick out your tongue.

This is a bit off-topic for this thread, but I don't want to start a new thread for such a minor question.

Can anybody tell me who is responsible for the art used on this card? Someone pointed the artist's name out recently, but I can't find that posting anymore. I would very much appreciate it. It seems like the one who mentioned it was Rusty Keyes or Solarionastartes; it came up while saying how much they liked this artist's work.

Beksinski puts an incredible amount of detail into his work and is the inspiration for Stalking Vengeance (can't remember who drew it)

And Frazetta is a legend when it comes to fantasy art, I think Michal Ivan said that he was his inspiration.
