Reprintable Mana Bases

MSE Modern is a big place. And it's only getting bigger. So Reprintable Mana Bases (RMB) is an attempt to draw MSE Modern together in the simplest way possible: Mana. The idea behind it is to offer set designers a collection of lands they could potentially reprint within their set, cutting down on the bulk of lands within the Lackey plugin. With your help creating and finding good community lands, we can establish a catalog of lands available to use! (With permission from the original creators of course!)

Submitting Lands wrote:
Submitting lands should be fairly easy and simple enough so that even people without sets can offer their lands up for use within the Lackey plugin. To submit some lands, include the lands (Either in this thread or to me VIA PM) as well as the following:

Your forum name - so credit can be given
What set the lands are currently in - Records will be kept of what lands go where
Are these lands free to use - If you don't care if people ask you about using your lands, let everyone know!

Land names should be kept as generic as possible to allow for ease of reprints. For example: Walled City would be acceptable whereas Traben, the Walled City is less reprintable outside of Innistrad sets.

Using Lands wrote:
Using lands in future sets should be as easy as submitting them! If the lands don't require permission, go for it! Just try and notify me of what lands you're using so your set can be added to the "Sets in:" tab

If lands require permission first, just ask! Some designers like to know where their work goes, but simply sending them a PM and asking should be enough!

Free to a good home! These lands are not in any sets of mine currently (they will be used in an upcoming custom Duel Deck project), but feel free to grab and use them. No need to ask permission, but I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. A simple cycle loosely inspired by Horizon Canopy.

Hi uh could we perhaps reprint some of the lands from the various sets available in the plugin already instead of making some up? I didn't compile that massive spreadsheet for nothing lol

Well, I have these, though that set file includes some existing lands, and not all of them have names.

Also, might it not be a good idea to include set files so that the cards can be copied over directly?

That will eventually be a good idea, but remember that until about 2 hours ago this was just 10 lands I had in my own set file

Designer permission to reprint eh? I don't think that should be necessary. In fact I would even move that having your set in MSE Modern plugin should automatically make every card in it fair game for reprinting. Especially the lands though.

Everyone just seems to be cherry picking this post hey that's cool I'm only trying to be nice and do nice things. This is a place to store lands from the community or from your head or from your aunt jenny when you guys went to lunch it doesn't matter. If its a land with a generic name it can go here. If you just wanted to strut your lands on the catwalk and not put them up for sale they can still go here. If you want everyone to use your lands they can go here.

I'm not trying to steal anyone's ideas and I'm not trying to undermine anyone's hard work and I am a little miffed that people seem to be thinking that.

I think I must've totally read something wrong if that is what you think I am saying. I looked back over it and let me get some clarity. Is this for lands that are NOT in a set yet but could be? Cause I took it as a collection of lands already in the plug in.

I will say that it would be good to come together on the lands and decide what the mana base should look like. Right now Ashura has a basic land type dual cycle and there is part of one in the plug in already. I went through to try and reuse the same names as a reprint but some are not very generic i.e. Dwarven Kingdom. Do we want a mana base that is close to fetch/shocks? If we want reprintable lands the generic names is a must.

Check out my updated set hub.

It's for either. I want it to be a collection of the lands from current and future sets in the plugin but if people submit their own lands outside of that I'm not going to turn them down.

Dwarven Kingdom is about as close to not ok as it gets, but it almost could slide. I don't really know how close to official modern our endgame mana base is going to be, but I feel we don't need to print more fetches than the ally/enemy official ones. Stuff like Korakhos's K15 lands are more what I'm hoping for. I can put the Ashura lands up here if they've been publicly revealed or you don't mind them being spoiled.

Hey, those colortapped lands look familiar

Tue, 2016-03-29 18:26
TheMartianGeek

I updated my set file with a couple more possible cycles.

And I guess I might as well sum them up:

Cycle 1:
- 10 lands
- tap for one of two colors
- enter tapped unless you control a land of a basic type that represents one of the colors
- rare
- example: Sunpetal Grove - Land Rare - ETB tapped unless you control a Forest or Plains - taps for Green mana symbol or White mana symbol

Okay, so this one doesn't really count as custom since I just reprinted the M10 and Innistrad lands in M15 format.

Cycle 2:
- 10 lands
- tap for one of two colors
- enter tapped unless you control two or more basic lands
- 2 basic types
- rare
- example: Canopy Vista - Land - Forest Plains Rare - ETB tapped unless you control 2 or more basic lands

Similar story here, though since only half this cycle was completed in Battle for Zendikar, I rounded it out with the enemy colors.

Cycle 3:
- 10 lands
- tap for one of three colors
- enter tapped unless you control lands of at least two basic types that represent the colors
- rare
- example: Brushmere Steppe - Land Rare - ETB tapped unless you control a Forest and a Plains, an Island and a Plains, or a Forest and an Island - taps for Green mana symbol, White mana symbol, or Blue mana symbol

My first tricolored land cycle.

Cycle 4:
- 10 lands
- tap for one color
- tap to put a storage counter on; tap and remove X storage counters to add X to your mana pool in any combination of three particular colors
- uncommon
- example: Cataract Grotto - Land Uncommon - Tap symbol: Add Blue mana symbol to your mana pool - Tap symbol: Put a storage counter on ~ - Tap symbol, Remove X storage counters from ~: Add X mana in any combination of Blue mana symbol, Red mana symbol, and Green mana symbol to your mana pool

I figured we needed a decent cycle of storage lands, since the only existing ones in Modern suuuuuck. Though these could use some rebalancing, especially at uncommon; at least one person pointed out that aside from not being fetchable and having the 4-of-a-kind rule, they're strictly better than basic lands. I'm perfectly fine with them being strictly better than the Time Spiral cycle, though. I suppose I could also make them not require tapping to remove storage counters. (Also, sorry about the color inconsistency, but I don't have a name for the Green mana symbolWhite mana symbolBlue mana symbol land yet.)

Cycle 5:
- 10 lands
- tap for colorless
- pay 2 of a particular color and tap to add three mana in any combination of three particular colors to your mana pool
- rare
- example: Derpland - Land Rare - taps for Colorless mana symbol - White mana symbolWhite mana symbol, Tap symbol: Add three mana in any combination of Green mana symbol, White mana symbol, and Blue mana symbol to your mana pool.

Here's a tricolored filter land cycle for you.

Cycle 6:
- 10 lands
- tap for one of two colors
- enter tapped unless you control a land of a basic type that represents a particular color that is an ally or enemy of both represented
- uncommon
- example: Herpland - Land Uncommon - ETB tapped unless you control a Plains - taps for Green mana symbol or Blue mana symbol

Another possible way to do dual lands, this one inspired by my current set, which has a lot of tricolored stuff.

Cycle 7:
- 10 lands
- tap for colorless
- pay 2 of a particular color and tap to add a particular combination of three colors to your mana pool
- uncommon
- example: Burpland - Land Rare - taps for Colorless mana symbol - White mana symbolWhite mana symbol, Tap symbol: Add Green mana symbolWhite mana symbolBlue mana symbol to your mana pool.

Basically cycle 5 except more restricted.

Cycle 8:
- 10 lands
- tap for one of three colors
- enter tapped unless you control three or more lands
- 1 basic type
- uncommon
- example: Blahland - Land - Plains Uncommon - ETB tapped unless you control 3 or more lands - taps for Green mana symbol, White mana symbol, or Blue mana symbol

Might be more fitting at rare; I'm not sure. Another possible way to do the trilands in my set.

Cycle 9:
- 10 lands
- tap for one of three colors
- enter tapped with a charge counter on them; may remove this counter to put a +1/+1 or charge counter on something
- 1 basic type
- rare
- example: Yaddaland - Land - Plains Rare - ETB tapped with a charge counter on it - taps for Green mana symbol, White mana symbol, or Blue mana symbol - remove charge counter to put a +1/+1 or charge counter on target permanent

Another triland cycle, and one that would have been more fitting for my set before I decided to dial back on the counter mechanics.

Cycle 10:
- 10 lands
- tap for one of two colors
- enter tapped unless you put a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control
- uncommon
- example: Fooland - Land Uncommon - ETB tapped unless you put a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control - taps for Green mana symbol or White mana symbol

Another novel way to do dual lands, though I might never use this cycle because of the rule about never using +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters in the same set, and I prefer the former.

Cycle 11:
- 10 lands
- tap for one of three colors
- enter tapped unless you control permanents of at least three colors
- rare
- example: Barland - Land Rare - ETB tapped unless you control permanents of at least 3 colors - taps for Green mana symbol, White mana symbol, or Blue mana symbol

Another possible tricolored cycle. Not much to say about this one, though I'm not sure if the 3 colors in question should be required to be the same ones as the land.

Cycle 12:
- 10 lands
- tap for one of two colors
- enter tapped unless you control a land of a basic type that represents one of the colors
- uncommon
- example: Spamland - Land Uncommon - ETB tapped unless you control a Forest or Plains - taps for Green mana symbol or White mana symbol

Yes, this is identical to cycle 1 except for the rarity and land names. Hey, I'm pretty sure the sets that had the originals didn't focus nearly as much on multicolored stuff as mine tend to, so...I will need some good dual land cycles at uncommon.

Cycle 13:
- 10 lands
- tap for one of two colors
- enter tapped unless you control permanents of at least two colors
- 2 basic types
- rare
- example: Eggsland - Land - Forest PlainsRare - ETB tapped unless you control permanents of at least 2 colors - taps for Green mana symbol or White mana symbol

Basically the 2-colored version of cycle 11, with added basic types (because apparently putting more than 2 basic types on one land is a bad idea).

Special cycle 1:
- 5 lands
- tap for a particular color
- enter tapped
- upon ETB, search your library for a card of that color and exile it; every time you cast a spell of that color, you may put a charge counter on ~; if the number of charge counters is equal to the CMC of the exiled card, you may play it without paying its mana cost
- rare
- example: Loremland - Land Rare - ETB tapped - when it ETB, search your library for a white card and exile it; every time you cast a white spell, you may put a charge counter on ~; if charge counter count = CMC of exiled card, you may play that card without paying its mana cost

I really liked the hideaway lands from Lorwyn (well, the green and white ones, anyway...the other colors seemed too situational), and I wanted to do something similar.

Special cycle 2:
- 5 lands
- tap for a particular color
- enter tapped
- upon ETB, put a +1/+1 or charge counter on something
- uncommon
- example: Ipsumland - Land Uncommon - ETB tapped - when it ETB, you may put a +1/+1 or charge counter on a permanent you control

I made these before cycle 9, and there's no real reason to use them over those because they're outclassed in every way aside from rarity, but they're there if need be.

Here's a five color one I came up with, the name isn't final and needs to be more generic, but mechanically I think its neat. Also, do you think it needs to be Mythic Rare?

Grand Palace
Land Rare
Imprint- When Grand Palace enters the battlefield, you may exile a card from your hand or graveyard (The exiled card is imprinted to this card)
